March 2016 Favourites

I am so pleased that this year has been a fast one so far and we are done with March. I don't know about you but I find March longer than many months (Yes, I know it has 31 days but still there is something so looooooooooooooong about it). I think the fact that it has 5 Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays makes it seem longer than most months. Anyway, I am glad it's over and I actually loved and discovered some amazing products. I have not taken any photos this time around but I filmed a video which I hope you enjoy. You can find it a direct link here or watch it embedded above. If you subscribe here, it would totally make my day. That's pretty much all and I hope you have had an amazing weekend. What was your absolute March Favourite product?...xx

Beauty and Makeup Haul (YSL, MAC, Lancome, KIKO, etc)

I have been buying a couple of things over the past two months and I knew it was hi-time I compiled everything into a little video (I am also trying to sort out my sound so please bear with me; it always seems okay when I film but it sounds crazy when I upload it. I am aware that many people prefer to watch videos as opposed to reading blogs which is why I have done a little video. Many of these products have been featured here at some point and I would link reviews where relevant (in the video description box). Other reviews would be coming up so stay tuned for them if you want a more in-depth review.

Anyway, how have you been? I have had such a lovely weekend so far although the weather today is a bit of a downer. However, it is the best time to just hide under my duvet and catch up on YouTube videos and blog posts. If you are not subscribed to my channel, you can subscribe here (that would make me so happy). If you are reading on your phone, here is a direct link to the video. That's pretty much all for today and I would see you in my next post tomorrow!!...xx

First Date Tag (Video)

One of my favourite videos to watch on YouTube is Tag videos. I think they are so much fun to watch but even more fun to film. They are so easy to film and edit as well!! My first video when I relaunched my YouTube channel was a tag video- The Shine Strong Tag and I loved doing it. I decided to film the First Date Tag video because I have watched a handful and I always end up laughing. It also gives you an opportunity to find out more about people's personalities. You can watch my take on first dates which includes what I would wear, where I would like to and mostly, who pays?. Let me know your thoughts in the comment section on what your take is on First Dates. Meanwhile, there is direct link to the video here and you can subscribe to my channel here. That would absolutely make my day!! Hope you are all having a great weekend and I would see you in my next post tomorrow...xx

Summer Fashion Haul (Zara, Warehouse, H&M, Aldo, etc)

I cannot believe I forgot to post this video on here. I finally got around to film a fashion haul. I think the last one I filmed was the Primark Haul which people seemed to like. I am not a huge spender when it comes to clothing per say. However, I am trying to buy more expensive pieces that will last longer for me. I went into Zara to do some damage and I picked up three skirts. First off, I am a non-skirt wearer but the pretty skirts in Zara have well converted me. I have always preferred to wear trousers or jeans and I rarely ever wear skirts but that's all changing as I absolutely adore Midi Skirts at the moment. The Zara skirts were a little pricey but I know they will last for a good while because they have amazing quality. I even saw that they have started their sales and a few items I purchased are now on sale. That's really good savings so hurry up if you want to pick up some items. I also did some minor damage in H&M and got some comfy tops which were a little too big (although I purchased size Small). I think it's just the style. Anyway, I would stop rambling and leave you to watch the video. You can find a direct link here and I would appreciate it if you subscribed to my channel here. I upload every Sunday although I am trying to see if I can increase it. I really enjoying making videos almost as much as I enjoy writing blog posts. It's just that it takes more effort to film a good video. I am still trying to sort out my sound and light quality but I don't think it is too terrible anyway. Right, I would love to hear your feedback and I will see you in my next post. What fashion bits have you been buying this Summer?...xx

W7 Neon Nights Eyeshadow Palette Review (Swatches +Tutorial)

I have always been a neutral eyeshadow kind of girl but ever since I rediscovered my Sleek Sunset Palette, I have been drawn to brighter colours. I found this W7 Neon Nights Electric Eyeshadow Palette in my local TK Maxx and I can't get enough of it. I was impressed with my first W7 In the Buff Toasted Palette (review here) so I had high expectations for this palette and it did not let me down. I am aware they are largely sold online so it is always a delight seeing them in-store. Again, I was lucky that this palette was untouched because some makeup products in TK Maxx are left in less than sanitary conditions. Thank goodness, it was not and I picked up an extra one for my sister who loves bright colours.

Packaging
How is it that W7 just keeps killing it with amazing packaging? I absolutely adored the W7 In The Buff packaging which is a lovely tin palette and I thought they could not outdo themselves. I was wrong; so wrong!! The Neon Nights packaging is absolutely stunning and a sight to behold. I don't think the pictures even do it justice because it is so pretty in real life. Its packaging is made from transparent hard plastic; I think more of an acrylic material similar to Muji storage. It feels super sturdy and the fact that it is transparent makes it look even prettier. It has a small eyeshadow brush which I like and it's also made from the same transparent plastic material like palette.

Shades in the Palette
The eyeshadows are neon coloured and I seriously love every single eyeshadow in the palette. I know it looks very scary at first especially if you are not a fan of colours. However, the colours in the palette really complement each other. There are 12 eyeshadows in the palette made up of several textures including matte, shimmer and satin.  The texture feels very buttery to touch and it is so easy to apply. They don't have names so I am just going to describe them with their actual colours and textures starting from L-R...
Neon Yellow: A bright neon  yellow shade with a matte texture
Metallic Silver: A beautiful metallic grey silver shade with a shimmer finish/texture
Turquoise Blue: A lovely turquoise/aquamarine blue shade with a satin finish and slight shimmer
Neon Orange: A beautiful neon citrus/orange shade with a matte finish (or maybe satin, I can't decide)
Fuchsia Pink: A deep fuschia pink shade with a matte finish which still looks so amazing.
Deep Green: I fee so confused by this colour because it look like a good mix of green and blue (A warm deep green)
Metallic Pink: A metallic pink shade with a satin finish
Matte Blue: A lovely blue shade with a matte finish which I love
Deep Cranberry: A metallic deep cranberry shade with a satin finish.
Royal Purple: My favourite colour in this palette; A deep purple shade with a satin finish.
Leaf Green: A Neon green shade with a shimmer finish.
Neon Green: A matte neon green shade with slight shimmers.

Texture/Pigmentation/Longevity/Application
The pigmentation is really lovely and it is definitely better than the In the Buff Palette. I was really pleased about that because the last thing anyone wants is eyeshadows that lack pigmentation. I find that the pigmentation is quite uniform except for the yellow shade which doesn't quite show up on my skin. It can be applied with any brush including the one that comes with the palette and fingers as well. However, I use my makeup brushes for it because I feel it works best. I have not tried using it without a primer but I think it would still have impressive pigmentation. It is very long lasting and it lasted me all day all the times I have used it. All the eyeshadows apply really well with minimal fallouts which is music to my ears because it makes makeup application much neater.

How I use it
I filmed a tutorial showing how I use this palette and as I mentioned earlier, the colours are complementary. If you are new to colour, you would find a few colours that can be used together like I used in the tutorial above. You can find a direct link here and subscribe here if you want to see more tutorials. I used three eyeshadows from the palette; the orange shade (an amazing transition colour), the cranberry shade (to add more definition to the crease) and the beautiful purple shade (on the lids). I already have more ideas for ore tutorials for this look and I am a little obsessed with this palette for now. I feel it is the perfect Spring and Summer eyeshadow palette.

Cost
It retails for £5.99 which I think is such a bargain for the quality of eyeshadows you get let alone the packaging. I am beginning to think I may prefer the W7 Eyeshadow palettes to the Makeup Revolution palettes which I already love. At the price, you can't really go wrong. It's much easier to travel with and I only wish that it came with a mirror but I guess they have their reasons for not including one. You can find it here on Amazon UK for £5.49 and Amazon US for $7.69. I know it is also sold on Ebay but I did not buy mine from there so I can't really vouch for any seller who stocks this palette hence no link.

Overall Thoughts
I don't want to sound too repetitive but I love this palette so much and I have got so much use from it already. It has really pushed me to experiment again with colours and now I am looking to purchase more products from W7 because I am very impressed with the two products I have tried so far. That's pretty much it and I hope you enjoyed this somewhat different post. If you would like to see more looks with this palette, let me know. If you are not already subscribed to my channel, here is a link to subscribe for more looks. Hope you are having an amazing weekend and I would see you in my next post. Have you tried the W7 Neon Nights Eyeshadow Palette?

Video: A Neutral Spring Look (Get Ready With Me)

I decided to do something slightly different today- I filmed a Get Ready With Me video. I don't think I have filmed any on my channel since I started YouTube again. I went for a neutral look with a nice pop of colour on my lips and cheeks. There is a direct link to the video here and it's embedded below. You can subscribe to my channel here if you wish so you don't miss any updates. I listed all the products I used in the description box of the video.

I even put on some lashes and I was totally feeling myself. I don't know what it is about lashes that just make me feel super glam. I really like the way they change up my look but there are such a pain to put on. I have no idea how people manage to put on lashes on-screen. It took me 5464647 minutes to put it on and it is always such a struggle. I think I am getting a little bit better each time and maybe one day I would be able to fix them within a minute #wishfulthinking.

When I finished my makeup, I thought I may as well take photos of my look. I find that I have very few pictures of myself because I keep taking pictures of other people, objects and places and I forget myself. Sometimes, I give my camera to other people to take my photos but most times I have to take it myself. I actually prefer to take my selfies myself because I know my flattering angles and it's easier for me. I also feel I am hassling people when I ask them to take my photos! Oh well!! Anyways, I hope you have an amazing weekend and bank holiday weekend if you live in the UK. I will see you in my next post.

Eyebrow Tutorial for Sparse Eyebrows

My eyebrows have always been sparse and I think that may be because I am not hairy at all. The hair on my head is also fine although now that I have gone natural it looks much fuller than before. When I was much younger, I really enjoyed my sparse brows because I did not have to do anything to them as sparse brows were trending. However, I never plucked them or tweezed them at all and I am lucky about that else I am pretty sure, I would have no eyebrow hairs at all. I have found a technique that works for filling sparse brows and making them look fuller (and natural as well). It's nothing ground breaking but I thought someone may find it useful. I have a slightly different technique since I filmed this video which I would be showing much later but for now, enjoy this video. As usual, I have a direct link to the video here and it's also embedded. If you don't want to miss an update on new videos, you can subscribe here. Don't forget to also enter the La Roche Posay Giveaway which is currently running till the end of this month. See you in my next post...xx

Video: Space NK Haul

I have no idea why I keep forgetting to post videos I have filmed on here. I am aware not everyone is into YouTube or even subscribed to my channel but I think it is still good to share it on here. I have been doing some shopping over time for Space NK but they are mostly products you may have seen in a review or a previous video. I wanted to bring them all together and talk about them in a review-like way. I also have a new addition which I am sure would excite you all (or maybe not but it got me excited)- The NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation. I am absolutely obsessed with it and a review may be on the way soon. That's pretty much it. I have a direct link to the video here and I would appreciate it if you subscribed to my channel here. Don't forget to enter the La Roche Posay Giveaway and I would see you in my next post.
P.S. The weather today is so gorgeous and I happen to have the day off!!! Is the weather amazing wherever you are now?....xx

Video: What's in my Handbag? (Weekend Edition)

I hope everyone had an amazing Easter break. I just stuffed my face with some delicious Nigerian Jollof Rice and had some Walnut cake as dessert so I am pretty full. I even forgot to let you guys know that I have a new video up on my channel. This is the one where I chat about my weekend bag from Primark which I am obsessed with at the moment. I recently downsized my weekend bag and my everyday bag (Longchamp LM Metal-review here) is definitely over the moon because I use it everyday. The Primark Bag (review here) is just perfect for the weekends and I have got so much use from it. It is very compact yet it still manages to store all my weekend essentials and a few extras. Let me stop rambling and leave you to watch the video. Here is a direct link to the video here and it is embedded above I would love it if you subscribed to my channel hereI would see you in my next post. Don't forget to enter the La Roche Posay Giveaway currently running now and it's open internationally too!!

Primark Haul (Video)

I never understand why people look down on Primark! It is one of my favourite stores to pop into; granted it may not have the best quality every time. Primark has really improved over the years especially with the quality and price (I have to add). One thing I really like Primark for is the wide range of items available there. They are also very good at creating dupes for many higher end and some high street stores like the Zara Mini City Bag look alike which I featured in a recent post. There are so many hidden gems in Primark and you just have to look and find the right one. It may be very chaotic on some days but it's always a nice store to pop into for basic items. I would stop rambling now and dive in. As always, I filmed the haul and it's on my channel on YouTube which you can find a direct link to the video here and you can watch it below if you wish. It would mean a lot to me if you subscribed here so you don't miss any updates.

I picked up two tops/blouses which look really lovely and very Spring appropriate. They both have lace detailing at the top which gives way to a pleated chiffon flowing body. I got them in Peach and Black. I always wear a nice camisole underneath because it is transparent/see-through. I also got some workout wear which is surprisingly good. I love H&M Sports wear and I thought they were the best affordable ones out there but the Primark ones are really good and slightly cheaper. I picked up a workout top, bottoms and a fleece jacket and the total cost for all three was just under £15 which is such a bargain. I also picked up some accessories including the Primark Mini City Bag (featured here) and two sunglasses which I adore. That's pretty much all I picked up and i hope you enjoyed this video. Have an amazing week ahead and see you in my next post...xx

How to Wash your Makeup Brushes + Beauty Blender like a Pro

First off, Happy Mother's Day to all the beautiful mamas out there!! I am many miles away from my Mum but she was really pleased to speak to me. I made her a special card and got her some special treats (makeup and beauty bits) which she said she loves! I have done a quick video on how to wash your makeup brushes like a pro. A lot of people dread washing their makeup brushes because it is quite a tedious process and I don't blame you if you hate it. I hated it at some point but when I learned to use the right products, I actually started looking forward to brush wash day. I have a similar post here on what I love to use to wash my brushes and it takes me a much shorter time to get them clean.

As always, I made a video showing you how I wash it. You can find a link here to the video if you are reading from an email. If you like the video, give it a thumbs up and subscribe for more. I aim to post a video every Sunday and I have been enjoying my little schedule lately. Thanks for watching and see you in my next post....xxx

Empty Beauty Products #1 (Empties Video)

I don't want to kid myself and jinx everything but I think I may be uploading a video every Sunday. I enjoy making videos and I hope to get better. I am still getting grips with the best kind of lighting for my videos and I hope I sort it out soon. If my face appears too bright, just bear with me until I figure it out. I am talking about my favourite empty beauty products today and it features some lovely products and some not-so-lovely ones.

Empties Videos are one of my favourite videos to watch because it gives me a good insight of well loved products especially if they have been repurchased. I hope you enjoy watching it. It would make my day if you subscribed to my channel here and if you are reading the blog on your phone; you can find a link to the video here. Let me know what you think of my empties in the comment below and I will catch you in my next post tomorrow...xx

What's in my Travel Beauty Bag? (Video)

I mentioned in a previous post that I had filmed a few videos when I was on holiday in Paris and Switzerland and I have finally edited and uploaded one. I am just chatting about  skincare essentials that I usually take with me when I travel. I hate to be without my favourite skin saviours so I ensure they are well packed and I decant some of them so they fit well into my beauty bag. The airlines/airport have very strict conditions for the amount of liquid (100 ml) that you are allowed in your hand luggage so it is always best to plan ahead else you may risk losing precious and expensive skincare. I always pack mine from home complete with the transparent bag. Of course, if you have checked-in baggage, you can pack as much as you like but my flight was hand luggage only so I had to be very careful with packing. Anyway, enough of the rambling and I hope you enjoy the video. It would make my day if you subscribe to my channel here and there is also a link on my side bar Have a fantastic weekend and see you in my next post...xx

Video: What's in my Clutch/Evening Bag?

I am sure everyone is having a fab weekend and I thought I should add a little video/blog post to your already awesome weekend. I shared with you on Monday my little haul from Whistles where I purchased two items which had been on my wish list for the longest time. So here's a little post and video on the contents of my Whistles Clutch for an evening out. I thought it would be nice to do a little different video instead of my usual talking videos and although it is not perfect, I am quite pleased with it. You can watch the video here and subscribe to my channel here as well.

I never try stuffing my clutch because I always want to look chic and effortless and it is very hard to pull that off when you have a bulging clutch so I keep it down to the barest essentials. I just pop in my Whistles Card Holder and here I keep my Oyster/Travel card, Bank card and ID and that's  me sorted on the wallet front. Next is my Chanel Les Beiges Health Glow Powder (review here) which is perfect for touch ups and does not interfere with flash photography in case I need to take some selfies or other photos.

Next is my Real Techniques Retractable Kabuki Brush which is an all rounder but perfect for touch ups. I like that it's retractable because the last thing I want is my clutch getting stained with powder/foundation. My Perfume Atomiser from Flo always comes with me because it is always nice to smell fresh and I always top this up with my favourite fragrance or a nice mix of all my perfumes in my little perfume collection featured here. On this particular day, I wore a red lip and it was none other than MAC Ruby Woo which I have a love-hate relationship with but it has been love for a while now. Last are my Keys and my iPhone (not pictured here) which is really always in my hands. That's it folks..what are your clutch essentials?

Mini Makeup and Fashion Haul (and Video)

I hope everyone has been having a fabulous weekend and you are ready for Monday. I have bought a few things which have not quite made their way into the blog yet and may never do so I thought it would be nice to feature them all in a short video. I mixed in a little fashion haul as well and I hope you enjoy it. You can watch the video here if you are reading this via Bloglovin or click the video down below to watch me and say hi while you are at it. I have been taking some photos for the blog today but the sun was not completely playing ball however, I managed to get a few good shots which means they will be more blog posts next week...mini ramble over.. Video is embedded below and let me know if you have tried any of the products featured. It would mean the world if you subscribed to my channel as well ;-)...See you tomorrow!!..x
