I have never tried Natasha Denona palettes but I'd heard so many good things about her palette. I was super excited when the Bronze Palette was launched and even more excited when I found out that it was affordable. I deliberated as usual but I ended up caving in and I have no regrets because I have used this palette a whole lot especially in the past month. Right let's get into the nitty gritty...
Packaging I love the packaging of the Natasha Denona Bronze Palette because you can tell they put in a good amount of thoughts in designing it. The outer packaging is just a regular paper one but it has a great amount of information about each of the eyeshadows. It goes into great detail which I find really refreshing. The palette itself is made of durable plastic and the top cover has a nice glossy finish. It is easy to clean and does not retain stains on it. Inside the palette, all the eyeshadows have the names inscribed clearly. The different thing about this palette is that the back of the palette has little holes which allows you remove the eyeshadows (if you wanted to) and rearrange it or just take your favourite eyeshadow (maybe if travelling). I personally would travel with the palette because the size is not bad at all but I know some people prefer to travel with smaller palettes. I love that it has a god sized mirror and the overall quality of the packaging is fantastic.
If you are regular reader of my blog, you'd know that I am a certified eyeshadow lover. I love eyeshadows but only eyeshadows with great pigmentation and textures. I was very kindly contacted by the Beautonomy PR team who asked me to try out their customized eyeshadow palette. Before then, I had not heard about the brand but once I got on their website I was intrigued. I read a few reviews and watched some IG videos and YouTube videos and I was sold. I got on the website, customised my palette and it arrived a few days later. I have used these eyeshadows for a few weeks and I finally want to share my thoughts on these eyeshadows.
I recently wrote about the Pat McGrath Mini Lip Fetish Lip Balm Trio (review here) and I mentioned I also purchased the Eye Ecstasy Palettes during the sale. I actually purchased the Sublime palette in a previous sale and then got the Subversive palette in this recent sale. I also filmed a YouTube video so you can see the eyeshadow palettes clearer. I can't remember when last I was so excited by an eyeshadow palette launch as much as I was for the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette. It was launched last year and it went straight into my wish list. I popped into Debenhams to swatch it and I was completely sold. I was waiting for any store to offer a 10% discount so I could save a few pennies from my purchase. It never happened because it was always excluded from discounts and the stores that offered discounts had sold out. I just really wanted it and purchased it from the Urban Decay store in Kings Cross Station (which is fabulous by the way) and I have no regrets at all. I have to say this is definitely my favourite Naked palette from Urban Decay. I used it a lot last year when I got it and I am still using it at least 3 times a week. I have already made some slight dents in some of the eyeshadows and that's why I am so glad I take photos before using my products.
Brief Description
Urban Decay describes the Naked Heat Palette as a warm eyeshadow palette that has all the shades needed to create sultry day time looks, intense smoky looks and everything in-between. I totally agree with this description and more. It is that warm toned eyeshadow palette that even cool toned and neutral toned eyeshadow lovers will adore because you can create so many looks from this palette. I lean towards warm toned eyeshadow palettes and this is one of the few eyeshadow palettes that I love and have some use for every single shade in it.
Packaging
I have always loved all the Urban Decay Naked palette packaging except for the Naked 1 which has a velvet/felt lining packaging (not the best in my opinion). I completely wish Urban Decay will change the packaging of Naked 1 because I will purchase it in a heartbeat. The Naked Heat Palette has a gorgeous sturdy plastic packaging complete with a brush. It is such great quality and it looks absolutely gorgeous. It is slightly heavy but I have traveled with it quite a few times and it's been fine. It has not been messy and the eyeshadows are well protected in the casing. It comes with a dual ended eyeshadow brush which I use a few times but I like to stick to my holy grail eyeshadow brushes.
Shades in the Palette
There are a total of 12 eyeshadows within the palette and I love that they have names on them. The inscriptions have not rubbed off from the palette which I am happy about. The eyeshadows within the palette go from a gradient of light shades to darker shades. There is a mix of matte, shimmer and metallic shades within the palette and I absolutely love the combination. The eyeshadows include: Ounce (ivory shimmer), Chaser (light nude matte), Sauced (soft terracotta matte), Low Blow (brown matte), Lumbre (copper shimmer with gold pearl), He Devil (burnt red matte), Dirty Talk (metallic burntred), Scorched (metallic deep red with gold micro shimmer), Cayenne (deep terracotta matte), En Fuego (burgundy matte), Ashes (deep reddish brown matte) and Ember (deep metallic copper burgundy). I love the names of the shades and I think they suit with the eyeshadow shades so well.
I tend to use either Ounce or Chase as a brow highlighter and they really flatter my complexion. For everyday/work looks, I reach for Sauced and Low Blow in my crease. If I am going out or I want some extra dimension in my crease, I reach for He Devil, Cayenne, En Fuego and Ashes. For my lids, I adoreLumbre(a nice dent has already been made in this shade), Dirty Talkand Scorched. Ember and Ashes are perfect for smoky looks. The colours are so complementary and you can create a complete look with just this palette which is why it has remained my top eyeshadow palette from 2017 and till now.
Pigmentation/Longevity/Texture
It's no secret that Urban Decay make great quality eyeshadows that have stood the test of time and they did not disappoint with the Naked Heat Palette. All the eyeshadows are intensely pigmented but (as expected), the shimmer and metallic eyeshadows stand out. They are just so gorgeous to use. I always an eyeshadow primer with every eyeshadow I own but I do think these eyeshadows will still last long with or without an eyeshadow primer. The texture of the eyeshadows are very buttery and soft to touch and apply. I particularly love that the way they swatch on my hands are the same way (and even better) when I apply them on my lids. I have experienced little fall out with the matte eyeshadows but it is very minimal compared to other matte eyeshadows I have tried. The best thing about the matte eyeshadows in this palette is that they don't feel chalky at all which is a huge plus for me.
Is it worth the splurge? Where to Buy? // Link //£39.50
I have to say a big YES to it being worth my coins. I will buy it allover again if I have to. I have been contemplating buying a backup because it's just one of those eyeshadow palettes I want to always have in my collection. I know there are so many warm toned eyeshadow palettes out there but this is one of the best I have tried. The Naked Heat Palette can be purchased from the Urban Decay website(they offer free delivery and 10% discount to students). You can also purchase the palette from other retailers such as John Lewis, House of Fraser, Fabled, Debenhams, Selfridges, etc. If a website is offering any discount and/or free shipping. I will suggest purchasing from them.
Overall Thoughts
I don't think I have loved any eyeshadow palette as much as the Naked Heat Palette and I can't sing its praises enough. I still love my Naked 3 Palette but I have a special love for the Naked Heat Palette. Urban Decay recently launched a mini version of the Naked Heat Palette but if you wanted to try this palette out, I will definitely say go for the full size. You get better value with the full size. Over the past couple of months, I picked up a few eyeshadow palettes and I absolutely love them. All these eyeshadow palettes are so gloriously pigmented and it's always a pleasure using them to create various looks. I think I have come to a point where I cannot be bothered with eyeshadows that are not intensely pigmented. Most of the eyeshadows in my collection have great colour pay off and wear time. I am going to declutter my eyeshadow collection soon and maybe I will share my process on here if I get a chance. Lorac Unzipped Palette // Link //$42 or an Amazon Link
Last year, the man got me the Lorac Unzipped Gold Palette from the US and I was over the moon. I still love that palette and it's very special to me. This year, he also got me the regular Unzipped Palette and I just could not contain my happiness. Lorac makes one of the best eyeshadow palettes and I feel like the Unzipped Palettes have incredible quality. The Unzipped Palette has basically all the shades I ever want in an eyeshadow palette especially for everyday wear. There are lovely crease brown shades, brow highlight shades, peach shades, gold shades, rich dark brown and burgundy shades. The possibilities of the looks you can create with this palette seems endless. The shadows are intensely pigmented and have great wear time. I have noticed some fallout but it is nothing too terrible. I will be reviewing this palette when I have a chance to edit all my photos. Zoeva Matte Eyeshadow Palette // Link // £18
You all know how much I cherish Zoeva palettes and I already own two others- the Cocoa Blend Palette and the Smoky Palette. I have been tempted by the other palettes in their collection but I exercised some self control (so I thought). Well, that self control flew out of the window when they launched the Zoeva Matte Palette. It has 10 eyeshadows just like the regular Zoeva Eyeshadow Palettes but all the shades are matte. I don't think I have a palette like this in my collection so I knew it was only a matter of time before it made its way into my eyeshadow stash. The shadows are very pigmented as expected from Zoeva. There is very minimal fall out with this palette which is very surprising especially for a matte palette. The texture is really smooth and applying these eyeshadows is so easy. I reserve this palette mainly for my crease colour and it has all the colours I could possibly think of!!
Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette // Link //£39.50
Before the launch of the Naked Heat Palette, I was contemplating adding another Urban Decay Naked Palette to my collection. I only own the Naked 3 which has mainly rose gold and rose pink shades which I adore. When I saw the Naked Heat Palette reviews, I knew I will be finding my way to the nearest beauty counter to purchase it. I held out for a bit to see if I could get some discount and believe me, it was difficult. All the places where I could accrue points and get some discount off the palette had sold out so I ended up buying it from the Urban Decay store in Kings Cross station on my way to Scotland. This is the palette I have always dreamt of owning because I love every single shade in it. There are 12 eyeshadows in this palette and I absolutely love the sturdy but pretty packaging. The palette is a nice mix of matte and shimmer finishes which is right down my alley. It has an eyeshadow brush in it which I am not mad about because these brushes are better quality than other eyeshadow brushes that usually come in palettes. The texture of the eyeshadows are buttery with minimal fall outs. I don't think I need to comment on how pigmented they are because they are beautifully pigmented. I even think the quality of these eyeshadows are better when compared to the other UD palettes I have tried (including the ones I have swatched in store). I can't wait to share some looks I have created with this palette and a full review.
Fenty Beauty// Link //from £16 (Full Review here)
Okay, I just had to throw that in because I can't get over this brand. I know it is not an eyeshadow palette but hear me out. It has been a long time since I purchased a number of products from a single brand especially a brand that is new on the block. I am sure Fenty Beauty by Rihannaneeds no introduction because it has been the hot topic on the beauty radar. I went to Harvey Nichols and purchased all the products on my little list and I am patiently waiting for the holiday collection (launching on 13th October 2017). I have a full review on here if you fancy a read and it's a long one so grab a cup of tea/coffee or whatever drink you love. I love all the products and I have been using them non-stop since I purchased them. I just can't bring myself to use any other product and I always find myself unconsciously comparing other products to Fenty beauty offerings. I think the foundation is my all time favourite product and I know I will just repurchase a backup because I just don't want to hear that my shade is no longer available. For a new beauty brand to release 40 shades of foundation which spans a good spectrum of skin tones, I think Fenty Beauty deserves a resounding round of applause.
Overall Thoughts
That's pretty much all the things I have been hauling and loving so far. I have a couple more products which are just repurchases and a few Drugstore ones which I may share in a separate drug store haul. I have found it difficult to get right back into the swing of blogging because I have a backlog of posts which I want to talk about. Let's just say January has been pretty filled with so many school deadlines but I would be back fully by next week, so not long now. Although I am not posting as often on here, I do post on myInstagram (@Fashstyleliv) and I share many lovely photos that never make it on here. I picked up the Sleek iLust Eyeshadow last year which was launched in their Gold Standard collection. I can't remember where I saw it, probably on Instagram and I told myself it needs to be mine. First off, Sleek Makeup have one of the best pigmentations when it comes to drug store eyeshadows. I already knew this palette would be amazing even without swatching it.
Packaging
The packaging is quite really cute and compact which I really like because it is so handy. It is slightly smaller than all the other regular Sleek Eyeshadow palettes but I absolutely love. I hardly ever have to touch up my eyeshadow at all but if I did, this would be the perfect size for on-the-go makeup and would fit well in my makeup bag. Also, if you are the type that does your makeup on the train, you would love this palette and its size. It comes with a dual ended brush which I have thrown away because I just have no use for them. I wish makeup companies either make good quality brushes to go with the palette or just add more product to the eyeshadow palette and save space. I have to mention that it is slightly difficult to open compared to the other Sleek eyeshadow palettes although it may just be this particular one I have. Other than that, I can't think of anything else about the packaging but I really like it.
Contents of the Palette
The contents of this eyeshadow palette makes me so happy because it contains all the shades I love but that's not all!! It also contains both cream and powder eyeshadows and I am super pleased about this. It also means that you do not need a primer because I find that the cream eyeshadow acts as a good base and prevents creasing while the powder eyeshadow sets it all in place. The palette contains 6 eyeshadows including four powder eyeshadow and 2 cream eyeshadows. I love how the eyeshadows are arranged beside each other as the colours are very complementary. If you are a beginner, you would find this arrangement handy and it makes it easy to apply.
Shades included and Swatches
As already mentioned, they are six eyeshadows in the palette and I do think it is a good number for the price of the eyeshadow. Many people have compared it to the Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow palette but I have not tried it yet so I can't really comment. However, I can see why because they do look quite similar. I also like that the shades have individual names however they are not inscribed on the palette itself except on a film paper protecting the eyeshadow palette. The shades include: Laurent, Coco, Margiela, Vera, Louis and Vivienne. I really like these names and I just wish they were inscribed on the palette itself!!
Laurent- A beautiful Deep Plum shade which has some lovely shimmer in it. It can be used on the outer corners your eyes and also a lid shade for smoky look. Coco- A lovely Copper Gold shade which I was very excited to try because I thought it would be a good dupe for MAC's Amber Light. I was wrong as it just comes up as a regular gold shade on my lids but I do like it. Margiela- This cream eyeshadow makes me so happy because it is pretty. It is a Light Bronze Metallic shade and I am really impressed with the formula of these cream eyeshadows in this palette. They feel super light on the lids and they don't crease at all. Margiela reminds me of Maybelline's On and On Bronze (Bad to the Bronze). Vera- It's so funny that I had very little expectations of Vera but it is one of my favourite eyeshadows in this palette. It is a Champagne Gold shade which looks super flattering on my lids. I really like it and it works well with all the cream eyeshadows in this palette. Louis-I have to admit I don't use a lot of Louis on my lids but it works well with some of the other powder eyeshadows in this palette (and other palettes). I would describe it as a Champagne Rose shade and it does have some glitter in it but it's not too noticeable. Vivenne-This shade was definitely made for Louis because they work so well when combined together. I would describe Vivenne as an almost Metallic Silver shade but I think it may be more of a Champagne shade depending on your complexion.
Price// Link
I was really impressed with the price of this palette and I thought it may be expensive. It's only £7.49 which is such an incredible value for money and I would definitely recommend it. Generally, Sleek Makeup products are not expensive but I am really surprised at the price of this palette. I have not seen it in my local Boots store lately but it is still available online. I also think Sleek is doing a 2 for £10 deal on their makeup products in Boots which is insane so do check them out.
Cons
I can't think of any cons about this palette except that this particular palette is slightly more difficult for me to open compared to the other Sleek Makeup Eyeshadow palettes I own. I already mentioned that it may just be this particular palette but do let me know if you have experience the same. On the other hand, it also means it won't get messy if you travel with it.
Overall Thoughts
I have to say this is definitely one of my favourite palettes from Sleek Makeup and I am very, very impressed with it. I love it because you can create quite a few looks with it. The only thing is there is no crease colour except you want to use the darkest shade as one (it does not look the best on my though). However, I don't think this palette was created to stand on its own per say but I think you can get away with just using this palette alone (maybe a light hand on the dark shade for the crease). I have always been a neutral eyeshadow kind of girl but ever since I rediscovered my Sleek Sunset Palette, I have been drawn to brighter colours. I found this W7 Neon Nights Electric Eyeshadow Palette in my local TK Maxx and I can't get enough of it. I was impressed with my first W7 In the Buff Toasted Palette (review here) so I had high expectations for this palette and it did not let me down. I am aware they are largely sold online so it is always a delight seeing them in-store. Again, I was lucky that this palette was untouched because some makeup products in TK Maxx are left in less than sanitary conditions. Thank goodness, it was not and I picked up an extra one for my sister who loves bright colours.
Packaging
How is it that W7 just keeps killing it with amazing packaging? I absolutely adored the W7 In The Buff packaging which is a lovely tin palette and I thought they could not outdo themselves. I was wrong; so wrong!! The Neon Nights packaging is absolutely stunning and a sight to behold. I don't think the pictures even do it justice because it is so pretty in real life. Its packaging is made from transparent hard plastic; I think more of an acrylic material similar to Muji storage. It feels super sturdy and the fact that it is transparent makes it look even prettier. It has a small eyeshadow brush which I like and it's also made from the same transparent plastic material like palette.
Shades in the Palette
The eyeshadows are neon coloured and I seriously love every single eyeshadow in the palette. I know it looks very scary at first especially if you are not a fan of colours. However, the colours in the palette really complement each other. There are 12 eyeshadows in the palette made up of several textures including matte, shimmer and satin. The texture feels very buttery to touch and it is so easy to apply. They don't have names so I am just going to describe them with their actual colours and textures starting from L-R... Neon Yellow: A bright neon yellow shade with a matte texture Metallic Silver: A beautiful metallic grey silver shade with a shimmer finish/texture Turquoise Blue: A lovely turquoise/aquamarine blue shade with a satin finish and slight shimmer Neon Orange: A beautiful neon citrus/orange shade with a matte finish (or maybe satin, I can't decide) Fuchsia Pink: A deep fuschia pink shade with a matte finish which still looks so amazing. Deep Green: I fee so confused by this colour because it look like a good mix of green and blue (A warm deep green) Metallic Pink: A metallic pink shade with a satin finish Matte Blue: A lovely blue shade with a matte finish which I love Deep Cranberry: A metallic deep cranberry shade with a satin finish. Royal Purple: My favourite colour in this palette; A deep purple shade with a satin finish. Leaf Green: A Neon green shade with a shimmer finish. Neon Green: A matte neon green shade with slight shimmers.
Texture/Pigmentation/Longevity/Application
The pigmentation is really lovely and it is definitely better than the In the Buff Palette. I was really pleased about that because the last thing anyone wants is eyeshadows that lack pigmentation. I find that the pigmentation is quite uniform except for the yellow shade which doesn't quite show up on my skin. It can be applied with any brush including the one that comes with the palette and fingers as well. However, I use my makeup brushes for it because I feel it works best. I have not tried using it without a primer but I think it would still have impressive pigmentation. It is very long lasting and it lasted me all day all the times I have used it. All the eyeshadows apply really well with minimal fallouts which is music to my ears because it makes makeup application much neater.
How I use it
I filmed a tutorial showing how I use this palette and as I mentioned earlier, the colours are complementary. If you are new to colour, you would find a few colours that can be used together like I used in the tutorial above. I used three eyeshadows from the palette; the orange shade (an amazing transition colour), the cranberry shade (to add more definition to the crease) and the beautiful purple shade (on the lids). I already have more ideas for ore tutorials for this look and I am a little obsessed with this palette for now. I feel it is the perfect Spring and Summer eyeshadow palette.
Cost
It retails for £5.99 which I think is such a bargain for the quality of eyeshadows you get let alone the packaging. I am beginning to think I may prefer the W7 Eyeshadow palettes to the Makeup Revolution palettes which I already love. At the price, you can't really go wrong. It's much easier to travel with and I only wish that it came with a mirror but I guess they have their reasons for not including one. Overall Thoughts
I don't want to sound too repetitive but I love this palette so much and I have got so much use from it already. It has really pushed me to experiment again with colours and now I am looking to purchase more products from W7 because I am very impressed with the two products I have tried so far.
