Maybelline Makeup Brand Review

Of course, you knew this had to be the next brand focus, didn’t you? I think majority of the drug store products within my stash are from Maybelline starting from their foundation to lip products, eye products, etc. They just deliver every single time. Of course, there are a few exceptions like the Maybelline Dream Satin Foundation and the Baby Lips which I wasn’t impressed with but for the most part, they are amazing. As you can see from my collection, I have quite a lot to go through so I will keep it as brief as possible.

Foundation- Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude, Fit Me and Dream Satin Liquid
The very first drug store foundation I ever tried was the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation which I fell in love with. It is also one of the very first foundations I used consistently until it finished. I didn’t repurchase it because my shade had changed and I moved on to other foundations. I feel it is still one of the best foundations they have made so far. The other Maybelline foundation in my stash is the Dream Flawless Nude Foundation (brief review here) which I am currently trying out. It is very light weight, water based and provides an unexpected good coverage. I expected it to provide little coverage but it does a nice job and I am impressed so far. I set mine with a powder but it’s not really necessary because it has a semi-matte finish. I didn't get along with the Dream Satin Liquid but I used it to create a custom foundation shade.

Mascara- Maybelline Lash Sensational
The first drug store mascara I ever tried was also the Maybelline Colossal Volume Cat Eye mascara which I really liked but I didn’t repurchase it when it ran out. I decided to try the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara which was recently launched and got a lot of good press/review. I like the curved plastic wand and bristles which do a good job of holding a curl. I have naturally curly lashes so I am not particularly concerned with curling properties but I like that it lengthens and separates my lashes well. It’s great for an everyday mascara but I still prefer my YSL Baby Doll Mascara (review here) which is my Holy Grail Mascara.

Eye Shadow- Maybelline Color Tattoos
Dear Maybelline, these lovely Color Tattoos have literally changed my eyeshadow application game. Thank you for releasing them. I know I am not alone on this one because everyone has been raving about the Maybelline Color Tattoos and it’s with good reason. I have reviewed them here and here and they are one of the best I have tried. They apply so easily and last all day until you take them off. They are easy to remove at the end of the day as well which is always a good thing. They are versatile in their use and they can be used as an eyeshadow base, or on their own. They make even the cheapest eyeshadows look so vibrant and amazing. I now have five shades and I still want more. My favourite shade is On and On Bronze which is just everything! I also love the Creamy Beige especially pairing it with neutral eyeshadows. Eternal Gold is my least favourite because the little glitters gets on my nerves and it does not apply as well as the others. If you are wondering what shades I have they are: On and On Bronze, Eternal Gold, Pink Gold, Pomegranate, Creamy Beige.

Lip Pencils- Maybelline Color Drama Velvet Lip Pencil
When Maybelline released these Lip Pencils, I just knew no other drug store brand could rival them. Seriously, how amazing are they? It has received various sterling reviews from beauty bloggers and non-bloggers. They are called the Color Drama Velvet Lip Pencils (review here and here) and the name really befits them. They apply really smoothly and don’t feel dry at all on the lips. I love the color pay off and wide range of colours to choose from. I find that the paler/lighter shades don’t apply as smoothly as the bolder colours but it’s nothing a lip balm can’t solve. I have 6 shades (and two backups) and they include: Red Essential, Minimalist, Nude, Keep it Classy, Love my Pink, Fab Orange, etc. If you are looking for a good dupe for the NARS Lip Pencils, these Maybelline Lip Pencils are very similar but cost a fraction of the NARS price. I have a comparison/nude post here, if you are interested.

Lip Gloss- Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Gloss
I recently reviewed these lip glosses over here so I won’t say too much again but how gorgeous is the packaging? I love them and they definitely look more expensive than they are. They are currently my favourite lip gloss mainly because they colour pay off is good (even on my pigmented lips) and the formula is non-sticky and shiny. I can’t imagine anyone not loving them because they are really beautiful and they have a wide range of colours to choose from. I have got the shade Coffee Kiss, Fuchsia Flash and Gleaming Grenadine. I have a full review here.

Nail Polish- Maybelline Forever Strong Pro and Express Finish
Maybelline Nail Polishes are really good but I don’t think they get enough love on the Blogosphere. There are different Maybelline Nail polishes but my favourite are the Maybelline Forever Strong Pro and Maybelline Express Finish. The packaging is pretty and I love the shape. The brush is wide and it provides such good application. The formula is equally nice and I love the shade range. I won’t say there are my favourite Nail polishes in my collection but they do a spanking good job. The shade Sable Rose/Rosy Sand is a a perfect nude for my nails and I absolutely love it. It's very hard for me to find nail polishes that are nude for my skin tone so this is a firm favourite.

Overall Thoughts
Need I say more? Maybelline is definitely an innovative drug store brand and they always release really lovely products. Many of their products are a firm favourite among beauty lovers. Obviously, I don't have every single product form Maybelline but there are some amazing ones out there. The Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer is a really popular one among bloggers but they only have three shades and none suit me. There are also others that I have tried that have finished (and I have not repurchased yet) but they are worth mentioning. They include: Maybelline Eyeliner Gel Drama, Maybelline Fit Me Powder, Maybelline Fit Me Concealer. They are all lovely products and I enjoyed using them. That's all and if you made it to the end, you are the real MVP (Most Valued Player). Thank you.. Have an amazing week ahead. P.S. I took Monday off and it's the best thing ever; it just makes the week so short....xx

  1. Fab post, Maybelline is such a fab brand from the drugstore. The colour tattoos are a holy grail for me, they are such good quality and a great dupe for MAC Paint Pots, especially now they are releasing more neutral shades.

  3. What a great collection of products! I've actually never tried their foundation (unless you count Dream Matte Mousse in Year 8...lol) but I'm obsessed with the Colour Tattoos and I really like Lash Sensational :) I did like the lip pencil formula but wish there were more colours! xx

    1. Aww thanks darlyn!! I think the Fit Me Foundation is actually my favourite even though it has a somewhat dewy finish. They also have a decent shade range so I am sure you would find something you like. I am with you on hoping they will release more shades for the Lip Pencil although I think they have done well with regards to the shades already available...xx
