Benefit One Prime Day Review

Hey lovelies,
Still continuing in the spirit of sample and freebie loving from my previous post on my Top Beauty Sample Freebies Magazine Edition, I decided to review the Benefit's One Prime Day set. Browsing on the internet revealed this set has been around for a little while especially in the USA. I stumbled upon it in my usual nosing around Debenhams website hoping to find something worthwhile in their beauty/fragrance sales. Nothing on there really tickled my fancy except this set only because I really  wanted to try out the Benefit's Porefessional Primer (No, I did not spell that wrong, it's really porefessional not professional..lol). Somehow, I missed out on this sample when it was generously doled out in a Magazine sometime last year. I have come close to buying the Benefit's Porefessional Primer so many times but somehow I have not been fully convinced to part with £24.50 after all the good reviews this primer has received. Long story short, at £13.50 for three sample size of three different Benefit Primers, I thought this was a good bargain. Let's find out if it really was, shall we?

Contents and Packaging
I have always been drawn to the packaging of Benefit Products because they remind me of vintage beauty products, not that I was born at the time..hehehe. The packaging is pretty and the contents include the Benefit's Porefesional Pro Balm Primer, Benefit's "That Gal" Brightening Primer and Benefit's Stay Don't Stray Concealer and Eye Lid Primer. First things first, I love the names they give their products. Together with the vintage packaging and quirky names, I think Benefit Products stand out boldly amongst other beauty products. Of course, the products are good quality as well. But we need to look at them individually to decide if they are right up my alley.  This set is exclusive to Debenhams at the minute and I think it is only available online here.

Benefit's Porefessional Pro Balm Primer
As I said earlier, many beauty gurus have raved about this primer for a long time making it one of the best selling primers of all times. It comes in a light nude/beige colour which disappears once you blend it in to your skin. It claims to help reduce the appearance of pores and help your make up last longer. For me, it has been excellent for helping my make up last longer but only fair in reduction of the appearance of pores.

I love it either ways but I am still unsure if I would purchase the full size at the same price. Another good thing is how it has not broken me out. I have used a few dodgy primers which have surprisingly broken me out. If they ever have any sales of any sort, I may consider buying the full size, but for now, I am quite happy with the sample version. This is definitely my favourite product in this whole set.

Benefit's "That Gal" Brightening Primer
I actually prefer the packaging of this primer because it seems brighter and  more summery. It appears light pink when you apply it on your skin but it soon disappears when you blend it in just like the Porefessional Primer. It claims to brighten your skin tone while priming your make up. I am not a fan of its brightening abilities because it made me look very ashy and too light (I would spare you the ghostly pictures). I doubt if this is the right primer for me.

Maybe, they need to have different ones for different skin tones or just skip the whole brightening shenanigan or it may just be my skin acting up. Whatever it is or was, I was not impressed with this product to say the least. However, I have to say my ashy look lasted almost all day which implies that it must really have good priming effects. This may be a good primer if you have very light or pale skin so I am not totally writing it off.

Benefit's Stay Don't Stray Primer
This has to be my least used primer mainly because I don't wear eye shadows often so I would not need to prime my eyelids. Besides, I already have the Urban Decay Primer Potion for that if need be. As a concealer primer, I would like to believe a normal primer should be able to help the concealer last longer so they should be no need for it.

I guess it may be useful for ladies who have perfect skin and only need concealer (jealous?very much!). But I do like how cute the packaging is and the fact that the applicator is like a lip gloss wand which means it would target any specific areas precisely. I guess I would give it a try one of these days.

Cost
The whole set cost about £13.50 from Debenhams and I got free shipping as a Debenhams Beauty Club member. On the website, the products looked bigger than they actually are. Honestly, I was shocked at their actual size. I should have read how much each of the samples contained before setting high expectations. Both face primers were 7.5 ml while the the Stay Don't Stray primer was a teeny weeny 2.5 ml. However, the fact that they included a free sample of the Benefit's Bad Gal Mascara made my day because I had previously got that as a Magazine Freebie and I really liked it. I was over the moon and any annoyance of the size of the samples diminished..(I am really easy to please..NOT).

Overall Verdict
I would say I think the products are good quality although I have my favourites and reservations for others. At the end, it all depends on your skin tone and preference which is why I can't stress enough how important it is to try out samples of products especially High End ones before you trot along and buy the full size. I think I am happy with my purchase and the products included.

I hope you enjoyed this post and if you have tried out the Benefit's One Prime Day Set or any of the products included, I would love to hear your experience. I am giving myself a cheeky pat on the back for posting for two consecutive days...I need to keep this fire burning till the end of the week...See you in my next post...xxx
