Amida Spa Experience in David Lloyd Club, Hampton

I am sure I may have mentioned it before but May was a really busy month for me in various aspects of my life. My personal life was busy and it was the same in my work life. It was even difficult to keep up with my blog sometimes which made me sad. I felt like all I needed was to go away to relax somewhere on holiday but alas! that was not to be. The closest I could get to a holiday spa feeling was at the Amida Spa in David Lloyd Club, Hampton*. I was kindly invited to experience Amida Spa and  choose any treatment I fancied. Of course, it was a no- brainer that I chose the Full Body Massage because I knew I would benefit most  from it. I literally counted down the days before the session and I was delighted to finally attend at the end of May.

Background of Amida Spa
Amida Spas are located in some David Lloyd Clubs across England. I think majority of them are within Greater London. You can find them in Farnham, Beckenham, Chelsea, Hampton and High Wycombe. Amida Spas offer a wide range of spa treatments including facial therapies, massages, maternity treatments, body treatments and even Male Spa Packages which is super ideal for Father's Day or for treat special guy in your life. They also offer various Day Spa Packages where you get full access to the gym, wet spa, a choice of some selected treatments, a light meal, etc. If you  choose any other spa session when you get a Spa Package,  like say the Full Body Massage, you get an additional discount off. It’s so ideal if you want to treat yourself, mum, sister, friend or even your boyfriend and Dad for Father’s Day.

My First Impression
I chose to attend the Amida Spa in David Lloyd Club,  Hampton because it was the closest to me as I live in South West London. I also chose the Full Body Massage (also known as the Aromatherapy Associates Intense Muscle Release Massage) and I was also given full access to the Gym, Wet Spa and a light meal. I have never been to the David Lloyd Gym in Hampton so I was excited as I heard it also had a golfing course. It is located in a beautiful expanse of land and it really looks like a holiday resort. The ambience in the club was so relaxing and I knew I was definitely going to have an amazing day. I was welcomed by the friendly Amida Spa staff and given a questionnaire to fill out my details/answer some questions. Then, I was ushered into the Spa room and the lovely therapist/masseuse did her introductions. She told me about the massage I was going to get, its duration, oils to be used and any areas I wanted her to concentrate on.

My Experience
I already mentioned that I chose a full body massage called the Aromatherapy Associates Intense Muscle Release Massage*. I was given three oils to choose from because the masseuse told me that the body can usually tell what it needs via smell. She did not tell me their names at first because she wanted my body to do the choosing. I chose the Aromatherapy Associates Light Relax Oil which was not surprising as my body definitely needed to feel relaxed. Apparently, the Deep Relax Oil would have sent me instantly to sleep as it is always reserved for evening Spa Treatments. She asked me what areas I wanted her to concentrate on.  I chose my head, neck and back mainly because I am constantly sat on my desk at work and at home and I sometimes feel some tension around these areas. Once I had chosen my oil and agreed on the areas I wanted her to concentrate on, she left the room for little while to give me some privacy as I undressed and got on the massage recline/bed. It was very warm, complete with warm clean towels, and the ambience of the room was super relaxing. The lights were dim and there was soft music was playing in the background which  incorporated sounds from nature like birds chirping away and the ocean/sea.  I honestly thought I would fall asleep even before the massage started because I already felt very relaxed by the atmosphere in the spa room. I wish I could say I remembered all her techniques but I wanted to enjoy myself and relax. She started with the Aromatherapy Associates Light Relax Oil to ease my body into relaxing. Then, she moved on to the Aromatherapy Associates De-Stress Muscle Gel relieve some tension around my neck and back. She was really so good; not too soft and not too firm. It was just perfect and she worked every single muscle on my back. I have no idea how she managed to do it but I gradually felt relaxed and I felt the tension slowly leave my body. I know it really does not sound real but that’s exactly how I felt.  I seriously wanted to stay on the massage bed/recline forever but it was over after almost an hour (I think it may have been 45 minutes or so because I was slightly late). I had to get dressed and go for lunch. My body seriously felt new again and I was surprised the oils used were not greasy at all. They sunk in well and the fragrance/scent still lingered and left a calming aura all around me until I took a shower when I got home.

Lunch Time
After I got dressed, I was given a glass of water and I allowed to take some photos as well. I then popped into the restaurant called DLICIOUS which makes really healthy meals and snacks. Of course, you would not expect anything unhealthy in the David Lloyd Clubs. I chose the Chicken Caesar and Kale Salad which was really what I needed after my spa session. It was delicious, felt nutritious and surprisingly filling. I also had a glass of  lemonade and ice. I really wish I drove down but thankfully there were good transport links around the club in Hampton so I was home in no time.

Overall Thoughts
I am not even joking when I say I jumped on my bed when I got home and dozed off. I have not felt as relaxed as this in a really long time. It’s an experience I know I will definitely revisit and recommend to my friends and family. Even as I type, I still feel relaxed from the spa session and the tension around my neck and back is nowhere to be found. Many thanks to David Lloyd Club Hampton and Amida Spa for giving me such an amazing treat. Have you been to any Amida Spa?

May Favourites 2015

May was a little crazy month for me because I had so many tight deadlines at work. It’s strange that I enjoyed it a little bit because I love the whole adrenaline rush that comes with challenges. Ignore me, I am very weird. Seriously, I was the girl always excited by exams!! Anyway, I don’t think I have been loving any products that are very different from what I have been loving these past few months. I just enjoy all the products I have in my stash.  I will add links to any reviews where relevant. Of course, I filmed it for you all. I have a direct link to the video here and you can also watch it above. Don't forget to subscribe here  for more videos...xx

Olay Deep Wrinkle Treatment//Link
I know the name sounds super scary like I am old and greying but that’s not the case at all. I picked it up on offer in Boots because I wanted something for the fine lines under my eyes. I have to say I've seen a lot of improvement from using it over 2 months. It applies really easily and sinks in immediately which is a plus for me. I don’t like eye creams that have that wet feel to them. This is not wholly designed as an eye cream but it states that it can be used for fine lines around the eye. It’s amazing and I love it.

Garnier 5- Sec Perfect Blur//Link
One of my favourite past times when I am grocery shopping is to scan the Beauty sections because there are always amazing deals there. My local Sainsbury’s is so good with this and I have purchased many skincare products that are heavily discounted there. I picked up the Garnier Perfect Blur for only £3 or so and I regret not purchasing at least one more. It retails for £12.99. If you have enlarged pores and you are after a product that will blur them out perfectly, this is your guy. I would never have imagined that a blurring primer will also keep my shiny T-zone at bay and this is really good. It is also suitable if you don’t want to wear makeup but you also don’t want your enlarged pores out on display. I love it!!

W7 Neon Nights Eyeshadow Palette//Review//Link
I am pretty sure you are all tired of me mentioning this eyeshadow palette. I seriously love it and it's perfect for creating Spring/Summer looks. The eyeshadows feel so buttery and highly pigmented which is exactly what I look out for in eyeshadows. I won't ramble too much. I have just been too excited about it and I always use it.

Molton Brown Delicious Rhubarb and Rose Shower Gel*//Review//Link
I was kindly gifted this amazing shower gel along with other amazing products from Molton Brown and I am obsessed with it. It smells incredible and makes me feel so fresh and invigorated. I feel like I have been to the Spa or on holiday whenever I use it. I use just a little on a loofah or sponge and it lathers so beautifully well. It’s not just a pretty face; it actually cleans my skin well and I love how the fragrance lingers on my skin after I shower.

Molton Brown Pomegranate and Ginger Hand Wash*//Review//Link
I already mentioned that I am not crazy about hand washes but this Molton Brown Pomegranate and Ginger Hand wash has totally converted me. It smells so exotic and I always find myself looking for excuses just to wash my hands. It cleans my hands really well and the lingering fragrance makes my hands feel so fresh. I love it and I know it will be an automatic repurchase once I run out of this one.

Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser*//Link
I know this lovely Body Shop Vitamin C Moisturiser has been popping on various blogs but it’s with good reason. It feels so moisturising and refreshing on the skin. I have been testing it this past month and I will have a full review up soon. It’s one of those products that you can see and feel its effects once you apply it. It is definitely a Summer Staple and I really hope it will never be discontinued (I may just pop over and get a few backups)

LA Girl HD Pro Concealers//Review//Link
These are oldies but firm favourites. I have reviewed them here and here already. I remember mentioning that I was not a fan of the packaging. I still am not but there is something about the quality of the products that makes me use it every time. It is incredible pigmented and can be used for a variety of purposes including concealing blemishes, hyper pigmentation and highlighting. You can even use a darker shade for contouring. I recently added a few more to my stash including Fawn (my match), Cool Tan (highlighting) and Toffee (for blemishes). They are also incredibly cheap and I got mine from BeautyJoint. If you are in London, you can check Beauty Base is Westfields.

Real Techniques Multi Task Brush//Review
I wonder why I have never featured this brush here because it is one of my favourite brushes ever. I rekindled my love for it this month as I have travelled a few times. As the name suggests, it is perfect for a variety of functions. It can be used for foundation, powder, blush, etc. I never miss out on packing this when I am going away as it saves me a lot of space and time. It’s such a shame that it’s not sold separately as I would have bought a few backups already.

Maybelline Lipstick in Peach Juice (130)
I totally can’t remember where I purchased this Lipstick but I think it may be Poundland or maybe in the clearance section in Boots. I love everything about this lipstick. It is a light pink lipstick that has some hints of peach in it which makes it the perfect Spring Lipstick. I have been wearing it a lot and I cannot get over it at all.

MaxFactor Excess Shimmer in Bronze//Review
I may have already featured this in my December 2014 Favourites and I just forgot about it until I updated my Muji Drawers. It has such an interesting texture for a cream eyeshadow. It's just like whipped cream but it applies so smoothly and lasts really well. I think it's so perfect for creating the perfect Summer Bronze look and I have been using it as a base since May and even up till now. I love it!!

JORD Wood Watch- Ely Maple*//Review//Link
I have been totally obsessed with the JORD Wood Watch in Elys Maple which was kindly sent to me for a review last month. I have been wearing it every day since I received it and it is now a staple in my wardrobe. I love how unique this watch is and it feels so light on my wrist. I have been wearing it everyday because it goes with all my outfits. The fact that it blends really well with my skin tone and complexion makes it so easy to style and I always get compliments when I am out and about.

That's it folks!! I hope you had an amazing day and weekend!! It has been so beautiful this June so far and I hope it remains the same. I enjoyed May and I am hoping June would even be better. What was your absolute May Favourite?...xx

Confessions of a Beauty Blogger (Part 2)

The first part of the Confessions of a beauty blogger went down really well with you lot so  I thought it would be nice to write up a little sequel.  I am not sure who started these tags or where the questions were from but I just found them on Google. If you are a blogger (it does not matter if you are a beauty blogger or not), I would love to see you do this tag so I tag all of You; Yes You, You and You! If you have done something similar, please leave your links below so I can check it out....Let’s jump right into it.....

1. When did you start blogging?
I started blogging on March 12th 2013 and I remember that day so clearly because I also cut my hair the same day (or the next day). I had just moved to London in January of that year from Manchester. I had been toying with the idea of blogging seriously so I decided to do it once and for all. I bought a template, registered my domain and linked it all up in one day and half. You can find my first post on here which is still one of my favourite posts.

2. Have you had any past online presence before (e.g. any other blog, YouTube, etc)?
As a matter of fact, I have!! I started out in 2008 with a blog where I only had three posts or so. The shame of it!! It was more like a diary and I never shared any of the posts. It was more like a personal diary and it was set as private. Of course, it is still on private and I love peeking into it every now and then. Back in 2011, I decided to give it another try and I published about 25 blog posts which I still enjoy reading till date. Again, I had more personal posts on lifestyle and what I got up to and I actually enjoyed it. I never shared any of my posts on social media but for some bizarre reason, a few people were reading these posts of mine. I love going through these blogs because they remind me of how I was (and how I still have not changed in many ways). These blogs are very precious and of course, they are still set on private. I use these blogs to test any changes on Fashstyleliv before I incorporate it. I would be making one of the blogs public soon so stay tuned if you want to hear my ramblings. Finally, I decided to be serious from 2013 and set up Fashstyleliv and here I am!!

3. Why did you start a blog?
I think the main reason I started a blog was because I love writing and I love talking about beauty. I also developed a love for photography and blogging was the only hobby that I knew could easily mesh these three passions of mine. If you have a chat in real life with me on beauty, I can go on and on but sadly, not everyone likes to listen, hehehe. So, I find that writing my thoughts and sharing it with like minded people is the most preferred option. Blogging is definitely one of my favourite things to do ever.

4. When did you become serious about blogging?
I think I became serious with blogging when I set up Fashstyleliv back in 2013. However, I think I started posting regularly in 2014 because I took this little hobby of mine a little more seriously. I am not sure what prompted the change but I guess buying my DSLR camera in March 2014 was a catalyst to the whole process. I just enjoyed the whole art of taking beautiful photos of pretty things.

5. What was your first post?
You can find my first post here which was actually not too bad. It was a very short one where I uploaded a picture via my iPhone which I had taken earlier. It was just a short introductory post on what to expect from this blog. It was simple and straight to the point. My second post was on some Lunch Time Photography taken from my office view on my iPhone and it’s still one of my favourite iPhone pictures.

6. What has been your biggest challenge about blogging?
My biggest challenge about blogging is definitely finding the time to do it effectively while living a balanced life. I can safely say that I have little or no social life which is a little ridiculous!. My full time job is a very busy one which means I hardly have time to do anything sensible during the week. I still manage to squeeze in a few posts here and there and schedule a few but it is really manic sometimes. When I get back from work, I make dinner, go to the gym and just try and relax but I am drawn back to my blog. It’s a passion I can’t resist no matter how much I try. During the weekends, I dedicate it to taking photos and editing and this can take a few good hours. I also film videos for YouTube and I only publish one video per week but it can be time consuming but I enjoy it so much. I am trying out a new schedule which I hope can help me manage work life, blogging life and social life really well so fingers crossed it works well. So, I would say finding time and balancing out all aspects of my life is the biggest challenge about blogging for me.

7. Where do you see your blog in one year?
I honestly never think that far to be honest. My blog is very much my hobby and in a way I would prefer to keep it that way. I find that when it transitions to some sort of work/career, it may steal the joy away from blogging. That’s just my thinking I am sure it may not be the case. In my personal life and career life, I tend to plan ahead and have a few options for my future. This blog is my hobby and I have not really projected that far and I am just going with the flow. The only thing I hope is that I am still able to blog as passionately in one year and engage more with my lovely readers. That’s all that matters to me, I guess.

8. What’s the most rewarding thing to you about blogging?
It is definitely the engagement I get from my readers. I cannot even quantify how it makes me feel when someone tells me my blog post was useful or they enjoy reading my blog. It’s seriously amazing that someone out there cares to check out my blog with all my ramblings and occasional typos (that always make me cringe when I read them afterwards). It is indeed very rewarding. When I used to work in a hospital, one of the highlights of my job was when people told me I made a difference in their lives. To me, that means everything and if I can make a difference or help someone (however small) and in whatever sphere of life (beauty or health or lifestyle), then that’s all I need.

9. What is the most discouraging thing that has happened to you via blogging?
I don’t want to sound annoying and boring but seriously, nothing comes to mind at all. I can't think of anything so far that is the most discouraging thing that has happened to me as a result of blogging. I guess it's only discouraging when I have crappy lighting and can't take great photos but right now the weather is so warm and bright and I can take pictures any time...woohoo!!

10. What's your lasting inspiration and motivation?
I draw my inspiration from God and everything else around me. I know it sounds silly but I always pray about the most mundane things like good weather, lighting, etc so anything involving blogging for the day goes well. I also draw inspiration from other bloggers, beautiful websites, magazines, Tumblr and Instagram. I am a very visual person and I am always drawn to beautiful pictures and I can keep scrolling and scrolling to eternity. However, I love (and I would like to think) my pictures and blog are distinct from others even if I draw inspiration from other people. I hate to think that my blog is a carbon copy of any other blog out there.

That's all for the Confessions of a Blogger Tag. I tag everyone reading this and I would love to read your post if you have not already done one. I enjoy doing these tags as they are so easy!! Hope you are having an amazing day!!  Do you have any blogger confessions?...xx

JORD Wood Watch Review (Ely Maple Design)

I have always loved watches right from when I was a kid and my parents always got me colourful watches back then. As I grew older, my taste changed (obviously!) and I opted for leather and chain straps. Now I have a new addition to my stash- The JORD Woodwatch from Ely Series in Maple*. I was very delighted when the lovely people in Jord Wood Watches contacted me to see if I would like to try a watch from their range.  I have never tried any watch made from wood so my interest was instantly piqued and I was intrigued to see that there were watches out there made from wood. I chose the beautiful Ely Series-Maple Design* because I knew it would go best with my skin tone/complexion. In all honesty, it was an uphill task choosing one watch from the range because they had so many amazing watches to choose from. I just kept scrolling and scrolling the website (which is a visually and aesthetically pleasing one, if I might add). All the watches listed are super beautiful and they look the same on the website as they do in real life (judging from the one I received).

JORD Wood Watches Brand
I had never heard about JORD watches or even any wood watch before they contacted me so I was very curious about the brand and their watches. JORD is of Swedish origin and it is translates to earth, soil or land.  The JORD brand prides themselves with creating  timepieces that model the modern lifestyle. The JORD Style is guided by a deep appreciation for natural elements as can be seen from the materials that are utilised in the production of their watches. While browsing their website, I noticed that there are several series within the range and they include the Fieldcrest, Dover, Cora, Sidney, 746, 94A, Delmar, Ely and Sully. They cater to male, female and unisex designs and I love that some of the watches are unisex. I am not a fan of very feminine watches per say; I like them to be a bit on the androgynous side.

The wood used to create these watches are sourced from natural sources and sustainable sources across the globe to create these lovely pieces. The types of wood used include Maple, Koa, Cherry, Zebrawood, Bamboo, Cherry and Blackwood. Some of the watches are made from one material while others are made from more than one wood material. I particularly love the fact that no toxic chemicals are used to treat or protect the wood as there is no need because they are made from 100% natural wood. I was relieved to learn this as I definitely don’t want to be wearing anything that may cause any allergies. All the metal clasps are made from Stainless Steel to prevent any metal allergies that may occur with some metals. They also come in various colours ranging from Black, Cream, Natural Green, Red, etc and some of them have some extra designs on them such as Turquoise and Rose Gold crafted all around them. They all look so intricately made and you can tell a great deal of workmanship and craftsmanship were put into creating these designs.

The watch I chose- Jord Wood Watches Ely Series (Maple)
As mentioned earlier, it was incredibly difficult to choose one watch because there were so many beautiful watches to pick from. I eventually settled for the Ely Series- Maple design* because I loved its simplicity and I knew the colour will match my skin tone and complexion. I love that the watch face is clear with a tiny date area. The JORD Maple watch is made from Maple Wood as the name suggests and it feels incredibly light on my wrist. That’s one thing I love about Wood Watches- they weigh next to nothing and you can hardly feel them on your wrist compared to some chain watches. The Maple watch is made from 100% wood with the only metal (stainless steel) bits found enclosed in the watch face and the buckle.

The buckle is the push design where you just click on the two clasps and the watch comes off. It’s so easy to put on and off every day. If you are particular about specifications, I would leave a link to the watch page where you can find out more about the measurements. Here are a few measurements though; Case Width (37mm), Case Thickness (11mm), Lug ends (45mm), Band length (200mm) and Band Thickness (21mm). All Jord watches are made with scratch resistant mineral and the actual timepiece is made from Citizen Miyota Quartz Movement (with date display). I was a little concerned about the sizing but there was nothing to worry about. The JORD Website has some instructions on how to measure your wrist, complete with a virtual ruler. All you need to do is print it off, wrap it around your wrist and enter your size on the website. Your watch will be adjusted to fit your measurement. They will also throw in some extra links in case you need further adjustments. It’s totally fool proof and it’s very hard to go wrong with it.

Packaging
I was not expecting such beautiful packaging at all but the JORD Watch packaging absolutely blew me away. You all know I am a sucker for packaging and I have often bought makeup products just because they looked pretty (I know, I know, I'm terrible). The Ely Maple Watch* came in a matching box also made from Maple. The box is embossed with the JORD logo at the top and on the side. It really makes the watch feel extra special and if this was a gift, there would be no need to wrap it. Inside the box contained, the watch itself, a watch cushion/pillow (also embossed with the JORD logo), some extra links, a warranty card (12 months warranty) and a complimentary card containing links to their social media channels (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram). I am really pleased with the packaging and I store my watch inside it everyday after use.

Care and Maintenance of JORD Watches
One of the things I was concerned about was the longevity of wood watches and how I could maintain it. There is a whole list of FAQs on the website on how to maintain and clean wood watches. First off, I was delighted to know that Wood Watches are splash proof and this is mainly because I am always washing my hands, cooking, washing dishes or getting sweaty in the gym. These activities don’t have any negative effects on the watch and it still looks as new as ever. However, submerging in water is not recommended e.g. it is not advisable to swim in them. Wood watches are inherently porous so they are susceptible to dirt and oil however I have not experienced any stains at all. I have been wearing this watch continuously for almost a month and it still looks brand new. If you are concerned about cleaning, you can always use a cotton cloth and a solution of lemon and olive oil to get any dirt off.

Cost
I already mentioned that this watch was kindly sent to me by the lovely people from JORD Wood Watches. Their watches are exquisitely made so I never expected them to be cheap however they are within a reasonable price range. The Ely Maple* retails for $129 which I think is incredible value for money. They ship internationally so you can always get your watch anywhere you live. The international shipping cost depends on where you live and I tried a couple of countries and it always came up as $20 for USPS First Class International.  I guess that may be the flat shipping rate but it is best to enter your country from the drop down box to be sure. If you live in the US (you lucky thing), shipping is free for you.

Cons
1. They are mainly sold online and I know it may be a problem as some people may want to see/test it in-store before purchasing.
2.  It may be prone to dirt over time but I have not experienced any at all and it is super easy to clean.

How I style the Jord Watch- Elys Maple
I am the girl who wears her watch immediately after my outfit for the day; even before I put on my makeup. I feel incomplete without my watch and I am never without it. I have styled this watch in various ways and it always complements my outfits. I wear it everywhere including work, gym, lunch dates, dinners, church and I have travelled with it as well.  I think it goes well with all my outfits largely because it is such beautiful colour and design and it complements my skin tone. For this post, I styled it revolving around my life during a lazy weekend. I love me a lazy weekend where I get to do all the things I love.

Relaxing/Chilling on my Bed
One of my favourite places in the world is my bed because I feel safe and at home in it. It has birthed so many ideas for this blog and this is where I relax. On a lazy weekend, you would find me sat with my legs tucked under me and a pillow propped on my laps. I have a weakness for cereals especially Coco Pops and Krave but I reserve them as treats for the weekends. I just chill on my bed, having my cereal while watching my favourite channels on YouTube. I always have my JORD Maple Watch on my wrist because I need to keep track of my day. I know it’s a lazy day but I don’t want to waste it all on the bed watching YouTube and Netflix.

Blogging Time
I do majority of my blogging during the weekend just like many bloggers who have full time jobs. I won’t lie to you; it can be incredibly time consuming but it is all so rewarding when you appreciate my posts and the efforts I put into them. I blog on my desk because I feel a little bit more productive when I am sat there. Of course, I need to have my JORD watch with me because it is so easy for me to lose track of time when I am enjoying myself blogging and creating content. I always take short breaks in between to give my eyes a little rest from all the screen action. I usually restrict the time I spend on social media because it is very addictive and can sometimes prevent me from being productive. Once my set time is up, I go back to blogging and scheduling posts for the week.

Makeup/Beauty Time
I hope this does not sound shallow but one of the highlights of my day, especially during the weekend, is to do my makeup. During the week, I don’t have time to do any creative looks but I have all the time during the weekend. This is when I try out bold/bright colors and I just love how I get to play with my makeup. I also film some YouTube videos during the weekend so I need my watch to help me keep track of how long each tutorial is taking. I find that no one has the energy or time to watch a long tutorial so it is always handy to have my JORD Watch at hand to help me.

Overall Thoughts
I am a little obsessed with this JORD Watch in Ely Maple. I always get compliments when I am out and about wearing this watch. Everyone is so curious about it and many people have never heard about them. I love everything about it from the attention to detail in the packaging to the exquisitely simple design. It is so lightweight and it suits every aspect of my life including my work/career. It goes with all my outfits and it just suits my lifestyle. I cannot recommend JORD Watches enough. They also make amazing gifts especially as Father’s Day is just a few weeks away. Have you heard about the JORD Wood Watches?..xx
