Weekend Post: April Favourites (video), ChitChat and Blogger Events

It’s been a minute since I wrote a little update post but that’s mainly because nothing exciting has been happening per say. First off, can we have a resounding hallelujah for the lovely Sun that has been gracing London (and UK in general) with an exception to this weekend? When I lived back in Nigeria, I always took the lovely weather, sun and free vitamin D for granted. Now, it’s somewhat of a luxury and I always rejoice when the sun is out. Of course, the sun being out means two things; taking blog photos and taking walks around my area. Although the weather is very sunny, it is still windy and a little bit nippy especially in the morning and evenings.

I popped over to Scotland a few weeks ago and it’s one of my favourite places to go to. I love going to Scotland for many reasons but the top on my list is seeing the BF (of course) and going through Duty Free. I always treat myself to one beauty item (usually from MAC). The last time I got myself the MAC 217 Blending Brush//Review here (the Queen of all Blending Brushes) and this time I got myself MAC’s Fluid Eyeliner Gel in Dip Down. It has seriously changed my eyebrow game and now I waste less time in the morning doing my brows. I freaking love it and I am inspired to now try the Anastasia Brow Gel soon.

I have been getting a few invites to attend some blogger events but I have sadly had to turn them down because of work commitments. It’s not like I can’t take time off work but I do have some tight deadlines to meet so that would be counter productive. Besides, my blog is still my hobby (and baby) and my work/career comes first so I have to give both of these passions as much energy/passion as I can. Anyway, I was pleased to attend a Rakuten Symposium held in London where I met other lovely bloggers and brands. I was lucky to have lunch with the lovely ladies from Molton Brown alongside other amazing bloggers.

I was kindly gifted with some luxe Molton Brown goodies from their Pomegranate and Ginger range*, Delicious Rhubarb and Rose range* as well as their Ginger Lily range*. I will be reviewing and sharing my thoughts on these products once I've had a chance to use them all. There were also other brands in the event such as Reiss, FarFetch, MyTheresa, Clinique, etc. I got other lovely products in the goodie bags  but the one that stood out to me was this lovely leather plaited choker/necklace from Reiss. It really captures the 90's vibe amazingly well.

It's really lovely attending bloggers' events because you get to meet other bloggers who understand what blogging entails. I would make an effort to attend more when I can. I have one or two lined up in May which is exciting. I decided to finally make a business card for my blog because I always get asked for one when I go to blogging events. I made mine via Moo.com which was pretty inexpensive (I think £15 for 50 including delivery) and I do like the quality. It's such an easy service to use and delivery was very fast which I was pleased with. Most importantly, it came with this nice card holder/box which is such a neat way to store your cards and other cards you have because it has a little separator inside. They currently have 25% off all their designs till April 29th here and I feel incredibly jealous that it was not available when I placed my order.

What else? Ohhhh, I have been trying so many new products lately so expect a nice long haul. Most of the items are drug store brands who, by the way, are really doing it for me. I would be posting a few Spring Themed blog posts and some series including the photography series which continues tomorrow.  I went in to Superdrug and Boots to see what Spring launches had arrived  and I was very impressed with a few brands like Barry M and Collection. I would leave you with my April Favourites here. There is a direct link to the video here and you can watch it below. You can subscribe to my channel here so you don't miss a video as I sometimes forget to post on here.

That's pretty much all! I hope you have enjoyed this little update/chitchat and I would see you in my next post as always. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and don't forget to enter the La Roche Posay Giveaway over here if you have not entered...xx

Weekend Trip to Glasgow, Scotland

I mentioned that I was in Scotland in one of my previous posts here and I thought it would be nice to share a few snippets of my trip with you. I had never been to Scotland prior to this trip so I was really looking forward to it. I totally love the Scottish Accent and a few of my colleagues at work are Scottish and it's always a joy hearing them speak...I digress. I was very much a tourist and wanted to do touristyyy things although I did not get to do much because it was a really short trip. I went by Coach via National Express and it was a smooth journey mainly because I travelled in the night and it was much shorter (8hrs instead of the normal 10hrs). I basically slept all through and when I was awake, I entertained myself with my iPad and iPhone which were fully charged thanks to my RavPower Deluxe Series* (review here and giveaway here).

I went to Glasgow which is such an amazing City with lovely architectural buildings strewn all over the city. I stayed in a flat just 10 minutes away from the City Centre so I was able to walk down to explore the city and do some window  shopping. Their malls look amazing and the architecture just seemed like something you would find in Paris or Rome (Ok, I am just chatting shit now) but you get my drift...they are just so beautiful. I was surprised to find there were a lot of people in the city centre; I am not sure why I imagined it would be a chilled little city. It was fully buzzing like London would be on a good day. As always, I headed straight for their High street (where all the shops were) which was around Buchanan Street and every shop you can think of was right there!!They also had their shopping mall called Princes Square and it was so gorgeous; the building just looked so exquisite and vintage at the same time.  It took a lot of willpower and self control not to lose it but I only purchased my Whistles Small Shiny Croc Clutch (review here) *pats self on the back*. There were also so many artistic people on the high street like the man coated with gold paint freestyling on air..no gravity at all and the Scottish Lad playing a musical instrument while balancing on a tight rope (I don't know what they are called). I loved every bit of the buzzing street.

I also popped into the George Square and took some photos as you do.  Most of the pictures were of the BF and one would think he was the tourist here whereas he is the one living right there in Glasgow *sigh* and that's why I have only few pictures of me. Even though the weather was beginning to act dodgy, people were optimistic and sat around in the little park there having their lunch and drinks like though the clouds were not threatening to rain...I totally loved that!! I am really terrible at remembering all the names of places I went to but it reminded me so much of Paris and I am not sure why but I think the buildings had a large influence on that. I even saw the Clanadonia Band play authentic Scottish music which my boyfriend liked so much and was dancing along too. It was really intense and you could see the passion in their faces and voices as they played and danced to their heart’s delight.

I love how friendly Scottish people are and how jolly the seemed. It’s very different to Londoners; I guess it was mainly down to people seeming more relaxed and not too much in a hurry. I am so guilty of always being on the move/rushing/hurrying here in London and trying to navigate my way to work and back; sometimes I fail to just chill, relax and soak in the atmosphere. Sadly, I was only in Scotland for a few days (the weekend) and I had to head back to London but I will be a frequent visitor in Glasgow and I will for sure bring you along (via my camera) with me...Have you been to any parts of Scotland?..x

London Fashion Week Celebration with London Ethnic

The highlight of last weekend was celebrating London Fashion Week. I was kindly invited by London Ethnic to celebrate London Fashion Week with them in the fancy Roof Gardens in High Street Kensington, London and of course there was a cat walk with very inspiring designs. It was a lovely night which was a perfect way to end the weekend and I even made a new friend who is also an amazing photographer but more on that later. As expected, this would be a picture heavy post so just enjoy the pictures and I am pretty sure you don't mind at all.

Background- London Ethnic
London Ethnic is a fashion label formed of a collective of London based designers who produce their collections within the UK thereby promoting designers that best encapsulate the best of London. The London Ethnic label provides authentic London Fashion made in the UK and worn around the world. I really liked most of the designs I saw on the catwalk and they were pieces that could actually be worn by non-models which I think is brilliant.

The Event
The doors were open by 8:30 but I arrived by 9pm just in time for the catwalk. I was happy to stand because I wanted to get nice shots of the models and it was an amazing array of designs on the catwalk for both males and females. I liked the prints and ethnic/contemporary designs on the catwalk and they were really edgy and bold. I can actually see myself wearing some of them..*wishful thinking*.The host and hostess were amazing as well. Apart from the designs on the catwalk, there were also some contemporary pieces of jewellery and ethnic inspired scarves on display which added real colour to the already beautiful venue. Below are some of my favourite designs from the night...

We had some lovely canapés and drinks from the bar. There were also stacks/boxes of Krispy Kreme specially made for this event sadly the only picture I had was blurry. I hopped on to the bar and ordered the strawberry and black berry virgin cocktail which was deliciously amazing and I was intrigued by how swiftly the bartender mixed up my drink- simply an art I tell you. I received a goody bag which had edibles which were already eaten before I got to take picture. But I managed to save the Coconut water which I am sipping currently as I type. Very refreshing indeed.

I was also lucky to receive these lovely goodies from Planet Organics which came in this lovely bag which will be my new random bag because I have this love for cloth bags..weird I know. In the bag was the Planeola which is made from natural ingredients with no added sugar and it contains no wheat, gluten, grains and is suitable for vegetarians and vegans. How amazing is that! It also tastes really good which I did not expect because we all know sometimes "natural organic " food may not be very tasty and we console ourselves with the fact that it's healthy..lol but this is different and I love it. Lastly, I got the Planeola Almond and Cashew Nut Butter which tastes so much better than it looks. I actually have been licking this off with a teaspoon (so not recommended but it tastes so good). I look forward to trying this with Bread or Ryvita.

It was truly a lovely night and I met this lovely Photographer Marta who takes amazing photos. She has a website with her amazing shots and we found out we live near each other and we may be working together on a few projects..we will keep you posted. Meanwhile, you can find her on her Website-Artupphotography,  Facebook Page, and her Blog..so go check her out. I was happy to leave early because I was truly knackered from a busy week at work and weekend sorting out a few tasks but I had a great time. I hope you have enjoyed this picture heavy post and I would see you in my next post...x
