Bourjois Volume 1-Seconde Mascara Review

I recently blogged about mascara samples I adored which were mainly from high end brands and I mentioned that the only drug store mascara I had tried was the Maybelline Colossal Mascara. However, all this changed when the Bourjois Volume 1-Seconde Mascara* landed on my desk. I have not really tried many products from Bourjois but this year, I have fallen in love with their products and this mascara is one of them. I was a little sceptical when I saw volume on the mascara because I prefer lengthening but this is an all rounder so I am quite pleased with that. First off, I have non-existent lashes and I say this because my lashes are very short and curly so I am really picky when it comes to mascaras which is why I use only high end ones as they deliver better and longer lasting results, however, Bourjois has made me rethink my stance...let's find out why..

Packaging
One striking thing about this is the packaging; it's really pretty and eye catching with the silver barrel and the colourful orange/peachy inscriptions on it. It  has quite a large barrel  compared to other mascaras I have tried but I like that the wand clicks  in place once it's securely closed which is really good because the last thing you want is mascara that does not close properly.

Wand/Barrel
I was quite intrigued with the wand because I have not really seen a wand like this; it seems to have a round tip with bristles all round it. The bristles are plastic as expected and just looking at it, it looks quite intimidating..lol. The way the wand is shaped ensures that it picks up even the tiniest lashes especially the ones at the corner and I think that's amazing. It's like a little face lift for the lashes...

Application
Bourjois has named this mascara "Volume 1-Seconde" and I can see why because it delivers results with minimal efforts although I won't go as far as saying it takes just one second but I get where they are coming from. With one sweep, my non-existent lashes spring up/out from the blues without any clumping in sight. I really like this and it lengthens and separates my lashes effectively. Honestly, I was really surprised because I thought it was only Chanel Sublime Mascara and YSL Baby Doll Mascara that could give that kind of effect on my minimal lashes. It is truly an all rounder and I am so impressed that I may actually give Drug Store Mascaras another try as this has restored my faith in them. . As expected, you would need to take this off with an eye makeup remover although my Garnier Micellar Water takes this off really easily. Having said that, the Bourjois Volume 1-Seconde mascara has a pretty impressive lasting power and dries fast/well after application.

Cons
I have thought and thought hard and I can't seem to think of any cons and I can't make up a con just because I feel like all products, especially PR samples,  should have one. We have just got along really well.

Price
This retails for £9.99 which I think is a fair price for a Drug Store Mascara but then Superdrug and Boots constantly have offers so there's a high chance you can get his for much cheaper. Bourjois also has the waterproof version of this mascara which has light/powder blue inscriptions on the packaging in case you prefer that but I think they have the same formula. Just saw that Superdrug sells it for £7.99 and Boots have a 3 for 2 offer on all Bourjois Cosmetics. I told you these shops are so good!!

Personal Thoughts
This is one I would definitely repurchase because it does what it says and it is affordable. It gives my lashes that much needed lift and I have not experienced any problems with it- says the Contact Lens Wearer so that's a good sign that it's here to stay. On a whole,  I am beginning to fall in love with Bourjois and I bought two Matte Lip Glosses from their Rouge Edition Velvet so expect a cheeky little review soon..have a fab week ahead..x.
