Body Shop Tea Tree Range Review

The Body Shop Tea Tree range is not new to me as I tried it out a few years ago but I found the scent a little too overpowering so I passed it over to my sister. I know many people love Tea Tree scent but I was not a fan at all. Fast forward a year or so later, an exciting parcel from Body Shop arrived which contained their improved Tea Tree range. I was a little sceptical at first because I thought I may not like the scent but I was pleasantly surprised to find it was not as overpowering as the previous version. I was sent three products from the range which include the Skin Clearing Facial Wash*, the 3-in-1 Wash, Scrub and Mask* and the Tea Tree Oil*. Incidentally, I was also breaking out around that period so these babies arrived at a really good time so I could see if they worked as effectively as they claimed.

I fell in love with the ones I was sent and purchased two other products so I could fully test the range. The two other products were the Skin Clearing Mattifying Toner and the Anti-Imperfection Daily Lotion and they work so well together. The good thing is they are very affordable and are included in the usual Body Shop discounts. I am aware that some products particularly the newer launches are excluded from discounts which is such a bummer. I was so happy when the sales assistant said the Tea Tree range was part of the discount and at that time it was 40% so it was amazing value for money. Right let me get back to the review...

Packaging
I am totally loving what Body Shop is doing with their packaging as they look so beautiful and more expensive than they actually are. I know it's silly but beautiful packaging always lure me in to purchase (and use) a product and when it is paired with good quality, it's incredible. I think the previous packaging of the Tea Tree range has always been green which is usually the colour I always see associated with Tea Tree. Body Shop opted for a deep leaf green shade which I love as it contrasts well with the white detailing on the packaging. I absolutely love the Anti-Imperfection Daily Lotion because it is a glass bottle with a pipette that works well. Honestly, anything with a pipette has my heart and I just love using it every chance I have. The Tea Tree Oil also comes in a small glass bottle with a stopper that prevents waste (as only a drop comes out as you need it). The only complaint I have is that the Tea Tree Toner and Facial Wash have almost the same packaging so it could get confusing if they are beside each other in the bathroom. I wished one had a different lid colour or anything that could distinguish it from the other. Other than that, I think the new packaging is fantastic.

Brief Overview of the Tea Tree Range
I am sure everyone knows that Tea Tree has many benefits for the skin and the body in general but it is widely known for its blemish busting properties. Tea Tree Oil is one of the world's best researched essential oils especially as it is an antibacterial. In line with the Body Shop's Enrich Not Exploit campaign,  Body Shop's Tea Tree Oil is concentrated with the pure organic essential tea tree oil sustainably sourced from the foothills of Mount Kenya. I know Tea Tree can be found from many sources but when it comes from the purest and organic sources, it works even more effectively as it's not adulterated. I have tried other tea tree oils and they are not as good as the Body Shop's one based on my experience. The Body Shop Tea Tree range is designed for anyone who has oily skin and is prone to blemishes and blackheads with an aim to achieve  clearer looking skin (which we all want).

Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash //Link // £5.50
I was really pleased to see this facial wash included in the Press sample they sent me. I don't think I have tried any facial wash with tea tree so this was a first for me. Body Shop describes it as a daily use wash for blemish prone skin which promises clearer skin. It is a gel formula which is my preferred formula for cleansers and my skin type. It has a medium texture and gives a good lather depending on how wet your face is. I find that when my face is just damp, it really has a good lather compared to when it is almost dripping wet. I have used it on its own and with my cleansing devices (Foreo Luna and Magnitone Bare Faced Cleansing Brush) and both ways work well but I prefer using it with my cleansing devices. It has the usual tea tree scent but it is not as intense as the other products. I find that it really helps to calm my spots and sometimes I let it sit for a while before washing it off. In terms of cleaning my skin, I would say it does a good job and it does not leave my skin feeling stripped which I am pleased about. I think many people will love this wash and it's affordable. For £5.50, you get 250 ml of product which will last a pretty long time.

Tea Tree Mattifying Toner // Link //£5.50
I was instantly drawn to this toner when I saw that it is a mattifying one because my skin is normally combination but goes crazily oily in Summer. Body Shop describe this as a refreshing toner for blemished skin to give a matte, shine-free finish. Its key ingredient is Tea Tree and one of its other ingredient is Alcohol Denat which made me a little cautious. It does smell quite intense of both ingredients but it is one that I am quite used to now so I don't notice it as such. It is recommended to give it a good shake as it has some white powder ingredient at the bottom which needs to be mixed to work well. I thought this white powder ingredient was Salicylic acid but I checked the ingredient list and it's not listed so I am going to find out what it is an update you all (if you do know, please leave a comment below). If you have active or angry blemishes, this toner will sting (for a little while) but it won't if the spots are not angry or red. I do have to say it does not dry my skin out which surprised me seeing that it had alcohol in it. However, it still manages to keep my skin quite matte which is my preferred finish especially for mornings. I used this straight for almost a month and I think it really helped clear up my skin. If you have very sensitive skin, I will suggest asking for a little sample at Body Shop first to see how well your skin can handle it. However, I will highly recommend it because it really works so well.

Tea Tree 3-in1 Wash, Scrub & Mask //Link //£8
This is also part of the newly launched Tea Tree range and I was keen to see how well it works as a wash, scrub and mask. Body Shop describes it as a clean and mean multi-tasking cleanser made with Kaolin Clay, Volcanic Minerals and Tea Tree Oil. I know it has other ingredients but I believe these are the key ones. It has some tiny granules that help with manual exfoliation but I am not a fan of manual exfoliation especially when my face is breaking out. I did try it out in the three recommended ways but I enjoyed it mostly as a mask. As a cleanser, it was actually good and the granules were not abrasive but I prefer gel formulas so I can use my cleansing devices. It is recommended not to use any cleansers with granules with a cleansing brush or the FOREO Luna. As a scrub, I actually like the way it applies and gives the skin a good exfoliation but I prefer to use chemical exfoliator rather than a physical/manual one. As a mask, this is where the beauty of this product shines through. It applies very smoothly and I add an extra layer to my cheeks which is where I tend to get spots. I leave it on for at least 15 minutes or more if I have time. When I wash it off, my skin feels quite soft with less angry spots. The Kaolin Clay and the Tea Tree Oil seem to get rid of all the gunk and infuse some antibacterial (tea tree's property) into any angry areas. I always look forward to using this mask and I even did an Insta Story with it on my face. I find it really similar to the Una Brennan Salicylic Clay Mask however the Body Shop one does not sting as much as the Una Brennan one (thank goodness for that).

Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Daily Solution// Link //£12
Now this was the one product I really wanted to try because I had seen snippets of it on Body Shop's Instagram page as it was a new launch. It is described as a lightweight, fast absorbing serum which is infused with the Body Shop's 100% Community Trade tea tree oil. I already mentioned that it has such a beautiful packaging and I honestly can't believe it's only £12 (much less with their usual discounts). True to its description, it is a lightweight product which applies and absorbs easily. The pipette/dropper allows you dispense the right amount you need and that's my favourite detail about the packaging. Once you apply it on the skin, it sinks in really quickly but it does not disappear. It feels slightly tacky for a few seconds and moves into a demi matte finish which prepares my skin for the rest of my skincare. It's just the extra step my skin needs and I use it just like a serum (which it is although it is called a solution). I thought the tea tree scent will be intense in this product but I was pleasantly surprised that it's not as bad as I thought. Paired with the Tea Tree Oil, I found that my spots were much reduced and I was not breaking out as much despite eating a lot of cheese (my new obsession which I have reduced now). If you just want to buy one product from the range, I will highly recommend this one. I feel it will be suitable for all skin types but people with combination/oily skin will love this because of its mattifying (but not drying/stripping) properties.

Tea Tree Oil //Link //£8.00
But who can resist this dinky bottle? Not me though!! I love how tiny the bottle is and I love how travel friendly it is. As the name suggests, it is contains only Tea Tree Oil but not any regular one. This little bottle contains 100% Organic Tea Tree Oil sustainably sourced from the Kenyan Mountains. It is one of Body Shop's best seller and I can see why. It works so effectively and can be applied both as a spot treatment or as an all over face oil. I was very surprised to see that it does not feel like an oil at all. It feels like a water based serum that applies very smoothly to the skin. This is the one product that has the most intense smell which comes as no surprise as it's only made from Tea Tree Oil. It has a minty (peppermint-y) feel on the skin that feels quite cooling/refreshing once applied. I actually enjoy using it as an all over the face oil to treat any breakouts and prevent any future ones. It can also be used day and night but I just prefer to use it at night. Together with the Anti-Imperfection Solution, it will be quite difficult for any future spots to show up and any existing ones disappear after a sort while. Sometimes, any existing spots disappear the next day after I have applied it at night. Other times, the spots are reduced by about 75% the morning after and completely gone by the next day or so. I honestly don't mind as far as it gets cleared within two days, I am happy about that. It's a really precious bottle with a nice lid and stopper which makes travelling with it a breeze.

Where to Buy
Body Shop products can only be bought from Body Shop stores or online on their website. I never buy their products full price because they always have amazing offers and discounts which you can find on their website or if you have signed up to their emails. I paid a little over £10 for both the Anti-Imperfection Daily Solution and Tea Tree Toner. Again, I am very delighted that the range is included in their discount/offers so hurry up while there are still on.

Overall Thoughts
I really like the whole range and I have seen many good benefits from using a complete skincare regimen. The products work together to ensure the skin is blemish free, smooth and clear. I am also impressed with the range's mattifying property that I am tempted to buy the day and night lotions as a prep before my makeup. I can't even choose my favourites but if I was forced to, I would pick the Anti-Imperfection Solution, Tea Tree Oil and the 3-in-1 Wash, Mask and Scrub. That's pretty much it from me. Have you tried the Body Shop Tea Tree range?

Body Shop British Rose Range Review

If you are a regular reader of my blog, you would have caught up with my previous post on Body Shop's Mother's Day Event and British Rose Range Launch. I was kindly gifted with a super generous selection of products from the range including makeup. I have tried them out for almost a month and I thought it would be amazing to share my thoughts on them. For reference, I was given the following:  British Rose Shower Gel*, British Rose Petal Soft Bath Foam*, British Rose Body Essence*, British Rose Body Butter*,  British Rose Eau de Toilette*, British Rose Eye and Cheek Palette*, British Rose Lip and Cheek Tint* and Colour Crush Nail Polish in British Rose*. I felt absolutely spoilt as you would imagine. I attended the event with my friend and she also got a generous British Rose Gift Set which she adores particularly the Body Butter (one of my faves as well).

British Range Overview
The roses used in this range are responsibly sourced here in the UK from UK Farmers which is very commendable. They are organic roses that are hand-picked and air dried.  The best part is that fresh mountain water is used in the distillation process of the pure rose essence so you can be sure you are getting the most amazing quality. I guess this is why the fragrance used in the range just hits the right spot by not being too light or too sickly sweet/floral. I absolutely adore the fragrance and even if you hate roses, you would actually like this one . I recommend giving them a try when next you are in Body Shop. You can shop the entire range here.  According to The Body Shop, the range is designed to provide a beautiful glow to the skin while upping hydration levels.  I believe there are eight products in the British Rose body care range and they include: Instant Glow Body Essence*Instant Glow Body Butter*, Exfoliating Gel Body ScrubEau de Toilette*Exfoliating Soap, Shower Gel*Petal Soft Bath Foam* and Petal Soft Hand CreamThey are also some makeup in the range including the British Rose Cheek and Eye Palette* and the Lip and Cheek Stain*  (Bright Peony) and the Color Crush Nail Color* (British Rose 350) which are all absolutely amazing.

Packaging
I know I have mentioned this before but Body Shop has been killing it  recently with their packaging. The British Rose packaging is a good mixture of various shades of pink and black . It's an absolutely delightful mix of colours that are very feminine, delicate and yet sophisticated; just like a rose. Apart from the colours, the packaging in itself is very sturdy and well made. I have travelled with a few of them and I have not experienced any problems at all. I particularly love that the Body Essence has a safety lock system so it can't be spilled even if something else rests on it.  I am very impressed!!

British Rose Shower Gel*// Link//£5.00
I am very obsessed with Shower Gels generally and it's a little crazy in my bathroom at the moment. I won't say I go through bottles and bottles of shower gels but I do love to try different ones every now and again. The British Rose Shower Gel smells so fresh and I love how the fragrance lightly lingers after I take my bath. It lathers really well and my little sponge does the rest of the job. I wish it had a pump so I don't have to pour it out in the shower. However, the lid is really secure and it dispenses the product easily (minimal waste). I can't fault this at all and it's a lovely Spring Shower Gel.

British Rose Petal Soft  Bath Foam*// Link// £8.00
Most Shower Gels I own can be used both as Bath Gels/Foams,  however I am so delighted that Body Shop developed a stand alone bath foam. The winning point is its incredibly soft creamy texture. It's not called Pearly-Soft Bath Foam for nothing as it feels very luxurious. I just pour a good amount in the bath, add in a few extra bath essentials and soak in to the most indulgent bath. Seriously, it has taken the quality of my bath time up to a notch. I always used my usual bath and shower gels but there is something so different about using this pearly bath foam. Most importantly, it does not leave my body soapy at all which I am very pleased with. Similar to the shower gel, it leaves a lovely light fragrance on my skin which I maximise by using the rest of the range.

British Rose Body Essence*// Link //£15.00
If you read my Drops of Youth Range Review, you would have seen that I was very obsessed with the Youth Essence. You can imagine my sheer delight seeing that the Body Shop had launched a similar product but for the Body (a Body Essence). Basically, I secretly christened this product as a toner for the body mainly because it prepares my body for the rest of my body care. The texture feels so refreshing on my skin and I have been tempted to use it on my face (but I haven't yet; I can't say what would happen when the weather gets warmer). It feels like I am using pure rose essence on my body mixed with the lightest moisturiser ever. It does not feel greasy at all and it is the perfect prep for my body. If you are always concerned about greasy moisturisers and you hate them, this is one product you would love particularly if you leave in a tropics or any area with hot weather. This is also one of my favourite product from the range!!

British Rose Body Butter*// Link // £14 (There is a smaller size for £5)
Body Shop unarguably make one of the best Body Butters and I have not come across anyone who hates their Body Butters.  They have such a wonderful texture and they are super moisturising. I was not expecting any different from the British Rose Body Butter. It is amazing and I have gone through it really quickly (and messily as seen in the picture above). I feel the texture is so much more creamier than all the other Body Butters I have tried and I love it. Again, it smells so beautifully of Roses and it is a perfect moisturiser for Spring. I can't fault it at all and I would recommend trying it out whenever you are in Body Shop.

British Rose Eau de Toilette*// Link //£19.00
I think this was one product I was most delighted to try because I love fragrances and it did not disappoint me at all. It smells exactly like the Rose Fragrance you have always dreamt off. You know the type that definitely smells fresh and not sickly or too strong. As mentioned earlier, it hits the right note and I feel it is one fragrance I can wear all year round. However, it seems perfect for Spring and I have been wearing it a lot.. The major ingredient and note is Roses (of course) and I love it. I have also been layering it with other fragrances from Body Shop and other brands. The best layering mix is with the Black Musk and you guys, it is so beautiful. I have now proceeded to mixing my own special mix in my Travalo decanter using equal portions of both fragrances. It's such a fresh and sexy scent and no one can ever guess what I am wearing.

British Rose Makeup*// Link
I have not tried a lot of makeup from Body Shop but I am very pleased that they have recently been catering to a wide range of skin tones. The British Rose Eye and Cheek Palette* (£20.00) is made up eyeshadows and blushes. I really wanted to like this palette because it looks so perfect for Spring but it is not the most flattering for my complexion. I would be passing it on to a better home because I have a lot of eyeshadow palettes so no point keeping one I won't use often.  I am still tempted to keep it because some of the colours look lovely on me and I do like the blushes but I know one of my friends who would love this palette. The eyeshadows themselves are better pigmented when you use either a primer or a base eyeshadow and I have tried it a couple of times with good results. If you have a lighter complexion than me and you prefer really light makeup, you would love this palette. The packaging though is so gorgeous and it has such a good sized mirror for makeup application.

The next makeup product is the British Rose Lip and Cheek Tint* (£12.00) which is my favourite of the lot. I received the shade Bright Peony and it is the prettiest shade ever. It is one of the longest lasting tints I have tried and believe me, it does not budge (even when I eat and drink). It feels like a light liquid, applies easily with the doe foot applicator and stays put. I like that it does not set immediately so you have time to amend any mistakes. It's a pretty colour that I would definitely wear all year round and I am so impressed with the formula, wear and shade. The packaging is also super cute so you can pop it easily in your makeup bag.

Last but not least is the Colour Crush Nail Polish (British Rose)*  (£5.00) which is the perfect My Nails But Sexier shade. It is a pale light pink/rose shade which applies so easily. If you are into natural or nude shades, you would love this colour. It is surprisingly long lasting given that it is a very light formula and I used only one coat. I am very impressed and I think I need to check out some other Color Crush Nail Polishes.

Overall Thoughts
I feel extremely lucky to have been gifted a large selection of products from the Body Shop British Range. They smell so beautiful and I can totally understand why it was launched around Mother's Day. It is the perfect treat for any Mother and in fact,  any female (regardless of their age). I have enjoyed trying them out and I can't pick out which one I love the most. Perhaps the Body Essence and Body Butter and maybe the Eau de Toilette and Lip and Cheek Tint. Okay, I told you I can't make up my mind. They are all gorgeous and you do need to check them out in-store. Body Shop is known for  giving out lovely samples to try out so don't be shy to ask. That's pretty much my review. I hope you enjoyed this post and I would see you in my next post. Have you tried the British Rose Range?

Body Shop British Rose Mother's Day Event

I know Mother’s Day has come and gone already but I could not help sharing some photos I took at the Body Shop #TreatMumLikeaQueen event I attended almost 2 weeks ago. The Body Shop has been absolutely incredible with their new launches. Everything from their packaging to the quality of their products have been amazing and I can't wait to see what new launches would be popping up this year. I am particularly a huge fan of how they have revamped their packaging as the products just look so pretty in my bathroom and dresser.

They recently launched their British Rose range to celebrate Mother’s Day and I was invited to celebrate its launch. The exciting thing about this event was that Mums were invited along to this event and I thought that was incredibly amazing. I would have loved to bring my Mum along but she currently lives in Nigeria. However, my lovely friend and flatmate came along with me and we had the most incredible time as she is such a huge Body Shop fan. The event was essentially a pamper day complete with skincare consultations, makeovers, massages and a Nail Bar alongside some nibbles and drinks.

The event was held in the Body Shop Soho Store in Oxford Street around 7pm and you all now I love evening events. It means I can just pop on over after work and it's just a perfect way to end my day.We made our way over to the event nice and early and were warmly welcomed with some delicious canapés and drinks. The canapés were so delicious and they are definitely my favourite nibbles at events.

After some nibbles, I made my way over for a quick massage because it is seriously one of the best massages I have ever received. I had one at the Body Shop Christmas event last year and It was so amazing so I knew instantly that I wanted an encore. I have no idea how the ladies do it butevery single muscle in my body felt super relaxed that I may have fallen asleep. It was not just me, everyone who made their way to the massage section came out feeling super refreshed and relaxed. Soon it was time for the introduction of the British Rose range which I had briefly seen in store.

British Rose Overview
Roses are generally associated with romance, love and femininity and rightly so because they are so beautiful and delicate at the same time. The roses used in the British Rose range are organic and hand picked and they are air dried and infused to get the purest form of rose essence. According to The Body Shop, the range is designed to provide a beautiful glow to the skin while upping hydration levels. One thing I love about this range (and on first impression) is that the roses are not overpowering at all. They provide a soft scent that's not too light or too heavy; it's just hits the right spot. I believe there are eight products in the British Rose body care range and they include: Instant Glow Body Essence*, Instant Glow Body Butter*, Exfoliating Gel Body Scrub, Eau de Toilette*, Exfoliating Soap, Shower Gel*, Petal Soft Bath Foam* and Petal Soft Hand Cream. They are also some makeup in the range including the British Rose Cheek and Eye Palette* and the Lip and Cheek Stain*  (Bright Peony) and the Color Crush Nail Color* (British Rose 350) which are all absolutely amazing.

I always enjoy Body Shop presentations as they are really well made and filled with amazing visuals that brings everything to live. I actually did not watch this entire presentation as I was having my massage done but I was listening and it was very relaxing. Massage + listening to an amazing new launch = Bliss!! Once the presentation was done, I and my friend went over to the skincare consultation area where we learnt more about some new products. There were also a lot of gifts available for purchase with good value for money. I believe most of these gifts are still available so you can still pop in and purchase them.

It was amazing seeing some many happy mums, aunties, sisters and friends having a beautiful time with their daughters/nieces, etc. I thought it was the most beautiful thing ever and all the Mums felt genuinely happy at the wonderful event getting their pamper on.  I have to say all the Body Shop Sales Associates who work in the Soho Store are super helpful and you can tell they are very passionate about what they do. I even managed to get a little hand/arm massage which was amazing. I also got to play around with the Body Shop Drops of Youth Mask and I know it would be making its way to my stash come pay day. We took more photos and had more nibbles and drinks. It was a super relaxing event and soon it was time to go home.

I was gifted with a generous goody bag filled with the new British Rose Range (body care, makeup and nail polish) which I would be reviewing separately after I have tested them out. My friend was also gifted with a box of British Rose goodies which she adores. The box looks so lovely and it would make a perfect gift for anyone who loves the range or Body Shop goodies. We had an incredible time and a Big Thank you to Rakuten and Body Shop for inviting me to this amazing event. It totally made our Mother’s Day!! Have you tried any products from the Body Shop British Rose range?
