Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick Warm Almond 6.5 Review

Hi Lovelies,

I told you guys i was on a roll with these blog posts :-)

Today, I am reviewing the Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick Review. I am sure everyone knows about Bobbi Brown but if you don't here is a little background

Background:
Bobbi Brown Cosmetics was created in the Early 1990s by Bobbi Brown who is a renowned Makeup Artist. Bobbi Brown cosmetics range includes Lipsticks, Foundation, Skin Care, Eye Makeup, etc. Although, Estee Lauder bought Bobbi Brown Cosmetics in 1995, Bobbi Brown still has creative control of the brand. They are a very high quality makeup brand which cater to a wide range of skin tones. Anyways, back in 2011, my favorite cousins used Bobbi Brown foundation and I was very impressed on how great their skin and face looked with it. The first chance I had, I raced to the Bobbi Brown Counter in Selfridges. To my dismay, the sales lady was unable to match me against any liquid foundation. To say I was distraught is an understatement. I left like a puppy with its tails between its legs.

Fast forward to Jan/Feb 2013(yes, it took me that long), I needed to replace my foundation and spied the Bobbi Brown Counter and I decided to give it another try. To my delight, I was finally matched but it was a stick foundation which i absolutely loved. I was matched to a Warm Almond 6.5

Packaging:
I think I fell in love with the packaging before its content. It comes in a classy black and gold tube which is very portable and handbag friendly. It fits snugly into any handbag or make up bag. The odds of spillage or damage is non existent because its packaging is very secure. It is ideal for travelling as well because you have the peace of mind of no spillage or breakage.

Formula
Its rich formula is Mineral Oil and Paraben Free as well as Dermatologist Tested. On application, it does feel quite drying against your skin. It is very important to moisturize before using it and use a primer underneath if you have oily skin like me. It is one of the easiest foundations to blend once your skin is well moisturized. It can be applied lightly as a concealer or built up as a foundation or both which is what I do.

Coverage
I would say it is a medium to full coverage foundation depending on how it is applied. I would suggest avoiding heavy application of this foundation because you may end up with a cakey foundation. I have used this foundation with and without a primer and it lasts all day. With a primer, it lasts slightly longer than without. However, I find that my T-zones become oily and shiny towards the end of the day when I use this foundation without primer.

Application
I wished with my whole heart that this was a liquid foundation but i hope to stick to what i have and hope Bobbi Brown would formulate my exact skin match in a liquid foundation form. Applying the foundation can be tricky and you need to ask yourself what is important to you: Money or Time? If your answer is time, then you can go ahead and slide this foundation across your face straight from the tube and blend with a brush. If your answer was money(like me), you need to patiently whip out your foundation brush and apply this foundation with many many strokes. In order to counteract the dryness, I moisten my foundation brush with Lush Toning Water. Trust me, it works like magic and eliminates the dry feeling against my skin.

Match to Skin
It is a thing of joy when your foundation matches to a T and you don't have to go through the trauma of wasting money or having to buy two foundations and mixing them.

This foundation matches my skin perfectly and it is easily blend-able and build-able. I was matched to a Warm Almond 6.5.

Cost
This precious baby retails for £28 pound which is quite expensive especially because it is such a compact foundation stick. For me, I think it is good value for money because it is great quality and it doubles for me as a concealer and foundation so I guess it is worth the splurge. If you don't use concealers, then it may be classed as an expensive buy. Having said that, if you apply this foundation using a foundation brush, you will find that it actually lasts longer than it appears from the tube. I have had mine since Feb and i still have a decent amount left. .. Although, it can be argued that i don't use this foundation everyday.

Overall, I think this foundation is a excellent value for money with great quality. Its packaging and portability is superb. Its dual use for me makes it one of my favorite foundations and I will definitely purchase it again!

I hope you enjoyed this post because I had tons of fun writing it up and taking these pictures from the terrace at work despite the curious side glances from my colleagues at work. I am slowly learning to do away with my shyness of taking pictures any and everywhere....xxx

  1. Loved this review!! It's exactly what I've been looking for. I've been using BB since I was 16. I am definitely going to try this as a concealer. I currently wear BB's Long Wear Even Finish Foudation in Warm Almond x
