Burberry Kisses Lipstick Review

It is always such a delight to get a lovely deluxe sample in the post (I am not talking about PR samples; just samples anyone can get) especially if it is from a luxury brand like Burberry. Burberry launched an amazing campaign with the release of their Burberry Kisses Lipstick where you get nominated by a friend to receive a free complimentary sample of any shade you fancied from the Burberry Kisses range. I initially chose Rose Blush No. 89 which I thought would be amazing on my skin tone. However, I was emailed later to say they had run out and they would send Nude Pink No.05 instead. First off, I thought that was pretty decent for them to email to let me know the change even though it was a freebie. I did not mind at all although I was a little concerned that the Nude Pink may appear ashy on me or not even appear at all on my lips. Well, let's find out, shall we?

Packaging
One of the reasons why I have been contemplating splurging out on Burberry is simply because their packaging looks so exquisite. It's so pretty and you can tell it's really a high end brand. At first, I though the sample would be nothing like the real deal . I was pleasantly surprised that it is one and the same as the full size with the only difference being the content/size. This comes in 1g while the full size comes in 3g or so but nevertheless it's still a generous sample.  It comes in a sleek silver greyish (maybe not; it just looks that way to me) packaging with a nice magnetic click when you close it. The name of the lipstick and shade can be found under the lipstick. It also has the signature Burberry checked logo all around the packaging and even on the lipstick itself (very lush!). It is truly so pretty in person even though these pictures don't do it any justice.

Shade
The shade I received was Nude Pink No.05 which is a light nude pink shade as the name suggests. I was pleased that it did not appear ashy on my lips. It reminds me of MAC Hug Me although they are very different but on my lips they appear the same. I always use a lip liner before I use this and my favourite one at the moment is MAC Cork Lip Liner. I don't think I would be able to pull this shade off without a lip liner at all. I went on the Burberry website and they have a variety of shades to choose from which is amazing as always. I heard some of the shades were inspired by the Burberry Spring Collection.

Texture/Formula
Burberry have designed the Burberry Kisses Lipstick range to deliver very buildable coverage so you can go from sheer to full coverage depending on your taste and how you wear it. I started with one swipe and it looked barely visible; it just looked like I used a tinted lip balm. I went on to apply a few more swipes and it changed to a really nice light pink shade. I really like the idea of a buildable coverage (although it's nothing new) but it is easy to do with this lipstick. The formula is one of the lightest I have ever tried and for me, that's a huge winning point for this lipstick. It also feels super moisturising (just like a lip balm but better) and it glides on ever so easily. I am seriously tempted to try other shades.

Cost
Of course, this was never going to be a cheap lipstick. The full size retails for £25 a pop which is quite pricey but it's not at pricey as I thought. Tom Ford Lipsticks are £36 which is totally inane although I secretly want to buy one just to see what the fuss is all about. Anyway, I am pleased that Burberry now has a counter in Debenhams which is incredible as I can use my Debenhams Beauty Card loyalty points to get some money off.

Overall thoughts
I am really pleased that I was able to try this lovely Burberry Kisses Lipstick because there is no way I would have randomly picked it up. It's one I will definitely check out because it is super lightweight, moisturising and buildable. I am not sure if the Burberry Kisses Campaign is still on but it is worth checking out on Twitter. That's pretty much all for today. Have you tried the Burberry Kisses Lipstick?
