Pixi Glow Tonic Review

For the longest time, I have been wanting to try the elusive Pixi Glow Tonic and I am not just using the word elusive loosely; it used to be very hard to get your hands on it because it was always sold out. I am not sure what blog I read but it appeared that the Pixi Glow Tonic was back in stock and I decided to snap one up before it was too late and that's how this baby came to be mine.

What Pixi Says
Pixi Beauty describe the Pixi Glow Tonic as an oxygenating, exfoliating tonic which aids in toning, firming and tightening the skin by removing dead skin cells to reveal a healthier glowing skin. It does not contain alcohol which is very refreshing to know because we all know that alcohol can dry out the skin. Many people have likened this to the Cult Classic P-50 Toner and Alpha Liquid Gold Toner but I can't really comment on that because I have not used any of these other products.

Packaging
I never got to try the older packaging which came with a pump but I can imagine I would not have liked it because it would be quite difficult to manoeuvre. This one has no pump which makes it easier to control its flow and I love it; all you need to do is tip it slightly over a cotton pad. I really like the overall packaging because it is simple with no extra frills which may have pushed up the price. It has a sizeable opening which allows the right amount of toner out.

Ingredients
I love the ingredients list because it contains ingredients that are good for the skin with as little artificial ingredients as possible which is always a plus. Active ingredient is 5% Glycolic Acid (an Alpha Hydroxy Acid AHA), good chemical exfoliant which occurs naturally in sugar cane and other naturally occurring fruits/herbs, etc. I have had a long romance with products containing Glycolic acid because it helps exfoliate dead skin to reveal new clearer skin and it definitely helps improve the appearance of dark blemishes from hyper-pigmentation/acne, etc. Other Ingredients include Witch Hazel, Aloe Vera, Horse Chestnut Extract and Ginseng amongst other ingredients and these all work together to maintain the skin.

How I use it
I use this straight after cleansing/washing my skin(face) both in the morning and night. I just tip the bottle onto a cotton pad to dispense a little and use that across my face in a sweeping motion as though I am actually sweeping off the dead skin off my skin. I find it really gentle although the first week I used it, it felt a little tingly but not in an uncomfortable way. I did not really mind much but after more than a month of using it consistently,  I hardly notice that tingle. It does not make my skin dry out or feel physically tight rather it just makes it feel really soft and plump. It has a slight fragrance which I can't really place; I think the Ginseng may be responsible but I am not a fan of this fragrance/scent. Again, I have read a few reviews where people said they liked the fragrance so it all depends on your preference. However, it's not unbearable or bad at all. Also, this has not broken me out at all which is always a good sign and I am pretty sure it is suitable for sensitive skin but I am not a skin expert so it all depends on your skin. I really can't imagine anyone complaining about this and I read many, many reviews way before I purchased it.

Results
I had very high hopes for this toner and I was not disappointed  in fact I am very, very pleased I purchased it as it has now become my HG (Holy Grail) toner. It has really changed my skin (in addition to other skin care products and lifestyle changes) and the good thing is, it helps with acne which I did not quite expect because it was not really why I purchased it. It has left my skin really soft after every use and that softness has been sustained even in the harshest weather conditions. When I travelled to Nigeria, this was a huge saviour for me because it was so refreshing and helped keep my skin in form. Even here in London with Summer in tow, it has been very instrumental in maintaining my skin who tried to play up a few weeks ago. I have used this consistently for more than a month and I am about to place another order because it has almost run out.

Price
For the quality you receive, I think it is quite affordable. It retails for £16 on the Pixi Beauty Website who have finally listened to the pleas of many Pixi Glow Tonics Fans and have restocked this so it is now available on the website. Before now, it's availability was seriously erratic and I know this because I had been trying to get hold of it since last year to no avail. They have a store in London where you can either walk in to purchase it or make a telephone order (*yawn*) but now, you cam buy it online which is so much more convenient. Delivery costs about £4.50 which is quite pricey but hey, if you really want it, you may have to turn a blind eye and the good thing is you get it in good time so there's not much to complain about.

Personal Thoughts
I really can't fault this because I think it's amazing and I have seen good results on my skin although I am aware my skin is far from perfect but this has been very instrumental. I don't really have any thing negative to say about this except maybe the fragrance which may not be appealing to everyone. It has been available online for a little while now so I can't complain about its availability. If you are looking to try something to give your skin that extra oomph and glow without any irritation, I highly recommend this toner...See you in my next post!!
